Big time blockbuster that Detroit needs to make.

Detroit sends: Larkin, Oulette, Weiss, Mrazek, and 2015 1st to Toronto for Phanuf and Kessel

Toronto says no

How do the leaf say no? you get a first, a top prospect and 3 roster players plus you get rid of 2 terrible expensive long term contracts?

kessel is a still a stud but what do you actually think your going to get for him?

I can't think of a single thing that would instantaneously make me disown the Red Wings as my favourite team, but this comes very close.

You clearly don't know Ken Holland at all. Also, people need to stop posting "blockbuster" trades with like 5+ pieces involved from one team those trades almost never happen

@Brett1262 I think it is a pretty good trade. Leaf fans will wail too little, Leaf haters will say WAAAYYYY TOOO MUCH.
Phaneuf more less equal to Oulette & 2015 1st
Kessel more less equal to Larkin, Mrazek & Weiss
I do not think DET has the cap space even after trading Weiss. The Leafs would have to retain salary or take Franzen as part of the trade. Since none of the players going to TML are significant contributors to the success of the the Wings, and since Phaneuf & Kessel younger than 30, both will be playing for many years. I think it would be a good trade for both teams. DET now and for at least the next 5 years, TML for the future with 3 prospects (all are among DET top 5 prospects and Larkin & Oulette are among ESPN top 100 NHL prospects) and a 1st in a pretty good draft.
I would love to hear from contributors regarding my analysis.

Leaf fans: Not enough

Non-leaf fans: too much

The Kessel trades got me laughing everytime 😂😂

6.) 28 Feb 2015
@sbr2017 You followed my logic perfect exactly, I doubt that TML would take Franzen (tho it would be great if they did) maybe put him on LIR?

@wingnut what about this besides the 1st would Holland really disapprove of? Your keeping Mantha, Gus, Tatar and Shehan and helping Z and Pav chances at another cup, IMO that's worth giving up a late first. It's really 4 for 2 Weiss is just for cap reasons, and you really don't say anything about why you don't like it, just complain

Holland does not want larkin to be traded seond he does not want to trade for a forward that does not play real hockey second I don't think babcock would want him there and if they want to keep him they are going to ask him ya or nah on this I think babcock wants someone with leadership and can fit well with what they have and have room too keep players they have. with adding a top six like Pavel or Z. smart hockey, is the way to keep him.
