Buffalo dumped their goalies in order to get McDavid, obviously that didn't turn out so well. The New York Rangers are fine with Lundquist, so.

Rangers trade: Cam Talbot and a 6th round pick
Sabres trade:Their 2015 2nd round pick (31st) and Sean Malone

Talbot is worth less.

I don't know why everybody is so excited about Talbot.
Yes, he produced great numbers during the absense of the starting goalie.
But he was playing behind all-star defenceman. Ryan McDonah, Dan Girardi Yandle etc.
And he does not have that much expereince in the NHL.
