Coyotes trade Chris pronger, 2016 2nd rounder

Why would the leafs trade him for a 2nd rounder when they had interest at a first and prospect? This is a stupid trade.

Of course they have interest in a first and a prospect. Doesn't mean they will get it! He's still a Leaf so obviously no on wants to give that up for him. Especially if they do not retain any money.

omg is this ever bad

basically 2nd rounder for a top 2 defensemen.
Pronger is nothing in this trade have no idea why you included him.
Most of his contract is payed off and now the Cayotes pay him only 500k.

Phaneuf is worth a B+ prospect and a couple of picks.

Phaneuf isn't a top 2 Dman by any means. Just because he fills the role, does not mean he thrives in it. That being said.

This trade is a bit ridiculous because although the Yotes have both a need for a Dman and cap space to fill, a 2nd and the contract of another player who can't even lace em up on the roster is not what's needed for the Leafs right now.
(Leafs have Broke-Back Horton on the IR)

Phaneuf could definitely find a home in ARZ for sure, but not for this deal. At least a B rated prospect and 3rd or maybe even young NHL ready Dman and a 4th/5th depending on this younger Dman's ability

Everyone shut up about Him not being a #1 defenseman first of all Toronto has made him out to be a #1 D-Man not a #2 if he gets traded onto almost any other team he is quickly going to be either there #1 or a really good #2 don't hate on him ya he may be slightly overpaid but there is no doubt in ny mind that Leafs will retain a million in any deal if they do he will fetch a nice a good package for Toronto but enough of all the hate on Phanuef ya he may not be the best defenseman or in the upper tier but he is definitely a #2 on a great team

I was joking in my comment above but on any good team Phaneuf is not a top pairing guy. He's a great top 4 in my eyes but just isn't top line material. But yes he is worth more then then. 1st or 2nd and a prospect
