Wpg - Andrew Ladd
Nyi - Brock Nelson, Adam Pelech, 2016 3rd rd pick

Wpg - Mark Scheifele, Brendan Lemieux
Tor - James vanRiemsdyk, 2016 3rd rd pick

new york gets a proven leader and producer that could add a veteran presence and help them come play off time. Could play on the top line next to tavares and okposo.

winnipeg get nelson who could move into their second line center role and put up solid numbers. vanRiemsdyk replaces ladd on their top line. Nelson and vanRiemsdyk can easily replace the scoring punch of the guys they are replacing. They also get pelech who is a solid young dman who could make the team down the road. The picks could be used to move up in the draft or to be used at the trade deadline for a playoff push.

Toronto gets Scheifele who hopefully would put up 20 - 25 goals as their second line center of the future. His age and postion fit well with torontos current rebuild. Lemieux looks to be a third liner in the making. He adds some gritt and some offensive upside which would be a welcome addition to the rebuild.

Pretty sure Leafs add on JVR for Scheifele. Like it or not, but Scheifele is younger, plays the "better" position and seems to have a higher ceiling.

JVR is a nice player but Jets don't even think about moving their most popular young player for him.

Great post, JVR is very young, so no he fits in both teams plans, I think some adding is needed, and Jets (to me) appear to lose a little too much leadership & potential.

"very young" is definitely the wrong adjective for JVR. He's 26, so he's neither very young nor young, I'd say "rather young" or entering his prime.
