i wouldn't retain but i understand if they had to to balance salaries. i would do that though, shed some salary, get a decent haul back, i've been saying for months time to rebuild for us in chicago.

Take out alzner firstly, why take a bad contact back if trying to shed salary? Chicago is rebuilding its defense and looks like will be pretty good in a year or 2 and alzner could probably not really tradable, and retain toews salary, that's insane, don't think they're desperate to trade toews.

Take out the retain by Chicago and mtl retains 10% of Alzner.
