Chicago Trades
2nd Round Pick 2024 (NYR Pick)

Toronto Trades
Brodie

Brodie would have to waive his NTC but if he does help both teams.

Thoughts ?

- Brodie isn't worth a 2nd.
- A rebuilding team is unlikely to give up a high pick at this stage of their rebuild.
- A rebuilding team is even more unlikely to give up a high pick for a 33 year-old in decline. What possible use is he to CHI?
- If you're trying to get 5M in Cap Relief you're either trading a sweetener, or getting a paltry return, or both.
- Brodie has a 10-team NTC.

Other than these 5 points, WELL DONE once again.

- leafs are the most capped-out team in the league
- 5M in cap space won’t come cheaply
- the undrafted Steeves is in the last year of his ELC, and it’s a make or break year for the kid to get another pro contract. I doubt this moves the needle for CHI.
- to get you have to give. No one is taking Brodie and his 5M contract without proper compensation.

Chickenfoot
Chicago took Nick Foligno did they not?
What's the difference? In fact Defense is harder to get then a Winger.
Boston needed financial help and Chicago helped Boston, now would Montreal for example help The Leafs, no they wouldn't because they are not only in the same division but are rivals, Chicago is in not only in a different division but conference as well.
You think one way especially when it comes to The Leafs that's very obvious to everyone.

Honestly if I was Chicago I'd take him for no considerations under the impression you could probably move him with retention for essentially more than what you give up.

If Muzzin and Murray are put on LTIR they are cap compliant running a 20 man roster.

PINBALL:

- CHI is surrounding their #1 pick with quality character guys to ensure his entry into the league is the best it can be. (Foligno is also an exceptional fighter, and acts as a deterrent, and ditto Corey Perry)

- I'm not a big Taylor Hall guy, but I really like CHI addition of a former 1st overall pick to help support Bedard with useful info and experience to ease him into his NHL career.

- Brodie is a often discussed as a potential buyout candidate. You never seem to include compensation for taking on bad contracts, and that is known by all who read this site. (How you block out feedback on your trades is truly "special". )

- Stop whining about leaf bias when someone disagrees your ridiculous one-sided homer trades. I think Treliving is a good hockey man, and have said so many times on this site. Your whining is embarassing and has no place in a grown-up conversations about sports. If you can't deal with feedback, don't post.

Chickenfoot
You are the one whining constantly saying bias etc.
Brodie and Steeves to Chicago for Future Considerations is bias and a homer deal?
Wouldn't Brodie be #2 on Chicago's depth chart on Defense?
Chicago would be on the hook for only this year plus could flip him for something at the deadline.
Chicago wins in this proposal Leafs win is only in Cap.

Common sense and precedent indicates you’re not dumping a 5M cap hit on a declining 33 year-old potential buyout candidate without compensation.

For whatever reason you are unable to process this.

I literally can’t add anything new, and to attempt to would be like trying to teach an infant how to wire a home or play poker. The infant wouldn’t understand, and is bound to get emotional and throw a tantrum. It’s a complete waste of time.

We all look forward to your next self-serving trade proposal that addresses the needs of your leafs without considering what the other team needs. I’m sure it won’t take long.

Um. pinball, the difference between foligno and brodie is foligno was signed for 0 years at 0 dollars. He was literally a throw in in cause Boston had no intention of resigning him. Brodie makes 5 million dollars on a team that needs to shed salary. They take what they can get which definitely won't be a 2nd from a rebuilding team. Brodie is less then a throw in, brodie and a 3, maybe 3rd and steeves for a 7th.

Geez, chicago helped Boston by taking a unsigned player Boston no longer had ties too. I'd say Boston helped chicago out by giving them early negotiation rights to foligno.
