I think you would be suprised at the offer montreal could make. I also think you might be suprised with the offers you would actually get from a lot of teams. No team is going to turn themselves into the oilers just to get mcdavid. especially those teams that don't need him to sell tickets.

@ zamboni I would think making the playoffs would be more important to an owner and franchise then any one player. unless they can somehow turn that mess around and keep him in the fold really fast then exploring trade options might be a good idea. He might ask to be traded before then though.

My point is, no team is going to be willing to give up that many assets to land him. Look what Duchene hauled in as a rental who isn’t nearly as talented. McDavid would be a lot more. No team will trade away that many valuable assets just for one player.

Duchene got a first that only has a slight chance of being in the top 20 and a two low tier prospects. He returns another 1st if he fits in with clb and appears to them that he's going to be able to continue close to this seasons ppg pace. Not a great haul IMO. could turn out wonderfully for ott if duchene sucks as bad as he did the first 25 games he played after being traded to ott and clb misses the playoffs. And then they still decide to sign him in the offseason. if I was edm and I could get a 1st line winger a top pair dman an A prospect and a 1st from one of the worse teams in the league this year I'd seriously think about it and if someway I could dump one of those horrible contracts along with mcdavid that would be the icing on the cake.

(becomes a 1st if Edmonton makes the playoffs)
Edmonton gets big goaltending upgrade and cap relief and Montreal gets a #2 center (#1 in Montreal’s lineup) and use up their cap space to get a pick for rebuild.
Talbot and Byron for Buffalos 1st 2019 lottery protected.
Talbot and Hutton battle it out in buffalo for number 1 spot and there is no way that buffalo can do bad this year looking at their roster so I feel like the pick will be 16-22.

I don't want anything to do with Price contract. Nothing at all. Terrible contract for its entirety considering his age and decline. No goalie is worth that certainly not one who's like 29-37 years old for that money.

@Yup you overvalue Lucic so much you believe he’s some generational talent and talk like he’s McDavid when the reality is he’s Ryan Reeves ( but worse at fighting) in the NHL with the ability to be a great 1st liner in the AHL. On the Canadians he’d be on the 3rd line putting up 15-25 points being payed 6 million. He has a terrible contract and Is the reason the oilers aren’t a playoff team.
Lucic cancels out all of Nuges value so I guess it’s Talbot and 2nd for the best goalie in the NHL?

Do you guys know that Bratt is a RFA and is 23 yrs old. He’s also has 43 points in 45 games which is far better than both Garland and boeser. I would say the trade is pretty much fair seeing as how sun am comes off the books this off-season.

The only thing that gives draisaitl the edge over Marchand is the age difference. Both put up similar numbers playing with very good/ the best players. No way Boston gives up Krug and debrusk for cap dumps. Also doubt cap works for boston.

Montreal wants nothing to do with puljujarvi. Nurse would be a nice add but Petry has been great the past 2 years and Gallagher is looking like he’s gunna grab another 30 goal season so I don’t see habs considering this.
