McDonough is not a shut down dman and rangers have been clear that their intention is to have a more mobile blueline going forward. They want to rid themselves of the girardi and staal types and have more active D. As much as I am a fan of Mcquaid and think there's a place for him on almost any team, he might be less mobile than anyone they're trying to change.
