I'd do that in a heart beat even if the pick was 1st or 2nd coming from Oilers. And it does make sense for islanders, in the sense they are getting a legit scorer who has played well with Tavares as well.

Chemistry is fine in Edmonton and trades are not required at this time.
Trade as listed will not or can not happen because:
1. Edmonton does not want or need Strome.
2. Davidson will more than likely be a Vegas Knight so will be
unavailable to trade when the Oilers are able to make a trade
for a Defenceman AFTER the Vegas draft.
3. Edmonton will only trade Eberle for a PP QB and allthough
Hamonic is a great stay at home D-man, he doesn't fit the bill
of the PP QB with the booming shot from the point needed.
4. Too much given up by the Oilers to make this trade feasible
even after the Vegas draft if Davidson is still kicking around.

Disagree with you. Eberle is having a down year and doesn't fit well on the team. He's too lazy and he's so one dimensional and for a guy making 6mil per year he sure isn't producing like it. Time to trade Eberle he's had his time with the oil. Edmonton isn't in dire need for a defenseman QB PP because when You have mcdavid that's not a dire need. We need somebody who can one time the puck from the left side, whether they are forward (puljujarvi one day) or maybe benning can slowly develop into that player. If oilers got hamonic their D would be solid and wouldn't be a worry anymore. This also saves cap for Oilers as well. It's a good trade.

The Math works out really close so this is more likely what's needed to get the trade done on Edmonton's end.
Eberle 6 mill x 3 years = 18 mill
Coyle 3.2 x 4 years = 12.8 Mill
Dumba 2.55 x 2 years = 5.1 Mill
17.9 Mill Total
Because the draft year is being touted as a weaker year in 2017 the 3rd just isn't enough to offset the salary and player quality difference in this amended proposal.
Better for Edm to just keep Eberle if this is all that's offered.

Ft4all, adding dumba into the trade just to even out cap numbers doesn't make the trade even out! It's like saying puliot and mcdavid for JVR. 4 M for puliot and 830K (without performance bonus') for 4.5M for JVR. Is that a fair trade?

mertle, but that's what 90% of the people on this site tend to ignore or forget. NHL is a business and the dollars in and out have to more than not even out. If a team wants a good player with the Value and potential of Eberle, equal $$ needs to come back.

Currently they are set up well for the Vegas draft in a 7-3-1 format.
And yes, as unfortune has it. it looks like Davidson is probably the best pick for Vegas to take from Edm.

Gentleman's agreement is required to retain Russel. He's a UFA so if he's exposed in the draft he will likely not be taken as he can just wait for July 1 UFA and sign anywhere. He can be exposed, not taken then re-sign with the Oilers.
