Pierre Lebrun of ESPN has said that the Leafs and Hurricanes are exploring a Kessel for Eric Staal swap. Who wins this deal?

1.) Carolina, unless they package someone else in with the return.

2.) Kessel is a lot better than Staal

3.) Why would the leafs trade the winger they need to get a centre for?? For the centre himself?? This trade will not happen.

6.) Carolina hands down. This is a bad trade for Toronto (as it currently stands). However, it does give Toronto a ton of depth down the middle. And if Nylander can excel his career a bit quicker, losing Kessel may not hurt as much in a few years.

If the Leafs were going to trade him for a #1 C, I would rather see him traded for someone younger/with some upside. Problem is there aren't many teams out there with that sort of depth, looking to add a player like Kessel right now.

CAR would have to add quite significantly, either way, a deal like that isn't happeneing.

I think Kessel is a better hockey player in terms of stats but, I think Toronto would win that deal. If that makes sense. Toronto would have better leadership and a better personality in the room who also has a cup ring. Also it makes Toronto a lot stronger physically and better skillfully down the middle of the ice. With Staal a legit #1 C, Bozak and Kadri both #2 C and Holland and Santorelli both decent bottom 6 C. That trade IMO give Toronto one of the better teams down the middle.

-Carolina adds Skinner

or

-Swap Ward for Riemer in the deal

Yes the Leafs would still have a goalie controversy but the position will be strengthened

2.) Its like you never even thought about it you as most leafs fans do over valued the leafs players.
Terrible trades all around for all teams except leafs.

Quantity isn't quality.

8.) No team will give up the 2nd overall pick in this draft. You certainly wouldn't have the horses to even tempt CGY.

9.) ^ There is some quality moving. Which is not to say these are plausible trades, bc they aren't.

10.) Very good attempt at all deals, not all teams would trade the assets you mentioned in the deals proposed but quite the cool trades none the less, good job eh! The Leafs will win the Cup by 2020 eh! LOL

With the two 2014 first round picks, they pick McDavid and Eichel.

1.) The leaf-hawk deal would never get done, because the hawks have cap issues imo . too close to the cap ceiling, phaneuf is at 7 mil a year and lupul at 5.5 a year. no way that happens, how much does sharp make? 5 mil max? too much going to Chicago unless Toews goes to Toronto then sure its a done deal but that's not going to happen eh! LOL!

2.) Why are we rebuilding the Hawks? rebuild buffalo chum

3.) I stopped reading when I saw rebuild and chicago blackhawks in the same sentence.

4.) Although it's enticing, VAN says no. They're not going to give up their future for leadership. Cap doesn't work either.
