Lets assume the red wings continue on this pace, do they start a quick rebuild? They have some good prospects, but lack some.

Det: zetterberg 4years 6 mils
Mtl: pleck (cap dump) sergachev 1st

Who adds?

Eddieshore

1.) 14 Nov 2016 21:41:22
Habs day No.
Not for Sergachev.
And Habs don't need another older player on books for 6 million. Price contract is coming up .
Zetterberg is an upgrade over Plekanec forsure. But to many things to consider in in the future for the Habs.

2.) 14 Nov 2016 22:00:04
Maybe MTL should add price too? That's absolutely horrible.

3.) 14 Nov 2016 22:50:18
@Shankar how is that horrible?

4.) 14 Nov 2016 23:10:48
BigZ will never be hab. period.

But yeah way to much my man sadly.

5.) 14 Nov 2016 23:48:15
habs add price, weber, radulov, galchenyuk, gallagher, shaw, bergevin, the next 20 years of 1st round picks, scherbak and the montreal goal horn.

this post is a joke. i know your a habs fan @eddieshore, why the hell would the habs do this?

18 Oct 2016 20:27:18
Mtl: pleck, beaulieu, pateryn 1st
Col: duchene, gelina.

Eddieshore

1.) 18 Oct 2016 21:18:54
Not happening.

2.) 18 Oct 2016 22:00:57
why not throw in Mikko Rantanen, Tyson Barrie, Calvin Pickard, Nathan Mackinnon and Erik Johnson while we're at it? And let's even out contracts, so let's make Montreal give up, say Bryan Flynn, Sven Andrighetto, Andrei Markov, Al Montoya, Charles Hudon and Torrey Mitchell

So.
Rantanen, Duchene, Gelinas, Barrie, Pickard, Mackinnon and Johnson for Plekanec, Pateryn, Beaulieu, Flynn, Markov, Andrighetto, Montoya, Hudon, Mitchell.

Now I'm just overexaggerating your stupidity, but come on, do you honestly think that a decent shutdown 5 million dollar old second liner, a top 4 dman at best, an ahl dman and a 1st gets you a top 20 scorer in the league? If yes, give your head a nice shake pal. A nice one. Cause you need it.

03 Oct 2016 19:50:01
TB: kucherov (RFA)

MTL: pacio (4.5m), mccaron sherback

Tampa gets a cheap alternative to kucherov to fit all their young star under the cap, mtl is able to give kucherov 8mil/ year once they move emelin or send him elsewhere or in the ahl.

Eddieshore

1.) 03 Oct 2016 20:56:55
I'd personally rather take Kucherov but if you're a Habs fan would you really want to give that much up for a guy who may not even be a statistical upgrade over Patch?

2.) 03 Oct 2016 22:37:26
makes absolutely no sense for MTL.

3.) 04 Oct 2016 01:24:43
No way from Montreal man.

4.) 04 Oct 2016 02:21:16
You don't think it should be that much for kucherov? What seems fair then?

5.) 04 Oct 2016 10:23:54
TB says no.

6.) 04 Oct 2016 13:08:21
Take out McCarron and its close.

7.) 05 Oct 2016 05:49:55
Tamps adds Drouin.

25 May 2016 21:01:20
I think a MTL-EDM trade will happen at the draft.

MTL-9th, pleckanec*, fucale**, sven andrighetto

EDM-4th, yakupov

*I know edm has a lot of centerman, but I think they want to trade RNH for a defenseman, if it is the case, i think pleckanec could be a nice addition, a leader (captain of czech republic) a great 2 way center to play against the big lines

**I am not sure if EDM will be interested in adding a good goalie prospect.

Eddieshore

1.) 26 May 2016 01:17:10
Moving the 4th overall and Yak, and not getting a solid Dman. Hmmm. At least we get the Honor of paying Plekanec $6 mil.

2.) 26 May 2016 01:34:38
Not even close.

3.) 26 May 2016 06:42:31
Are you insane adding those two players would make montreal Hang up man like Plecky ok and fucale ok if you add Eberle to this.

01 Apr 2016 13:54:55
Rumors are huricannes owner agreed to sell majority ownership of the team to a quebec group, he flew over to quebec multiple times, we knew he has try to sel the team for many years to an owner that would keep the team in Raleigh. What to you think? I sincerely think it will happen, it just seems like a perfect fit, sorry canes fan.

Eddieshore

1.) 01 Apr 2016 14:29:19
I heard about that as well. Canes owners have met with Quebec about selling the team, not sure how far this gets though.

2.) 01 Apr 2016 17:15:52
has there been any articles on this. I really think Quebec deserves a team. I know how it feels to have your team ripped away from you. Can Quebec actually sustain a team. What caused the Nordiques to move anyway.

3.) 01 Apr 2016 17:48:43
Colt - it was ownership that cause the move to Colorado.
they also needed a new area. fan base was there though.

4.) 01 Apr 2016 18:27:53
yeah that sucks. Same thing happened with the rams Kronke wanted to make more money. we were willing to build a brand new stadium but he took his ball and left anyway.

17 Nov 2016 17:59:07
In my opinion mtl needs an upgrade on pleckanec if they want to be real contender,
Who do you think can be a possibility and what would it cost
Hanzal
Carter
RNH
Bozak
Girgenson
Duchene
Fisher
Zetterberg
Spezza
Any others?

Eddieshore

1.) 17 Nov 2016 20:22:29
Bozak 100% easily the best player there

On a serious note, I think Z would fit well on the Habs but I hope He never becomes a Hab.

Duchene would be the best fit but colorado won't move him and I don't know if the habs have the right pieces to acquire him

spezza and carter I don't think are available.

Hanzal would be a prety good fit on the third line.

2.) 17 Nov 2016 20:24:56
Hanzal - not much of an upgrade
Carter - Would take a lot for Mtl to land
RNH - See above
Bozak - lateral movement
Girgenson - Pleks is better right now
You won't get Duchene
Fisher - Lateral (better d, worse o)
Zetterberg - Detroit values him
Spezza - bandaid but good offensively.

3.) 17 Nov 2016 20:28:33
Well first off, lots of those guys on that list aren't even available.
And I just read that Montreal is really looking at Hanzel right now.

4.) 17 Nov 2016 21:22:26
I think the only one they could get is Hanzal. which i don't see as much of an upgrade. i guess i jus don't know much about him.
The other guys are either to old ., to outta reach or jus don't fit atm.

01 Nov 2016 18:53:42
What would be Dekeyser value if mtl want to acquire him in a couple of months?

Eddieshore

1.) 01 Nov 2016 19:25:23
Can Montreal afford to lose him?

2.) 01 Nov 2016 21:13:52
I'm sure there's 10 comments by now chirping that first comment but I meant Detroit. Lol.

3.) 01 Nov 2016 22:30:14
I was going to ask. lol.
I don't think Detroit can aofford to lose him. although regressing. they are still going to battle for a playoff spot. These intra division trades are kinda rare as well.

4.) 02 Nov 2016 14:00:45
Det could afford to lose him if they trade for Fowler. Which they have been interested in for a long time.

5.) 04 Nov 2016 10:48:31
Cams habs even afford that contract? They have under 2 mil in cap space. Detroit dedicated a lot of term and dollar to Dekeyser, I can't imagine they move him.

18 Mar 2016 13:50:08
Every teams fan on this page, post the players you would protect in case of an expension
(a) seven forwards, three defensemen, and one goalie; or,

(b) eight skaters, and one goalie.

players need to have played 2 seasons in the nhl/ ahl to be elligible, for example nylander is not protected

Montreal
1-pacio
2-galchenyuk
3-gallagher
4-delarose
5-Mccaron
6-Danault
7-Sherback

1-Subban
2-Beaulieu
3-Petry

1-Price

*if petry doesn't bounce back with a strong season i might consider not protecting him

Unprotected players, pleck, eller, brown mitchell, byron, emelin

the rest is ufa like Markov.

Eddieshore

1.) 18 Mar 2016 14:03:41
ous forgot andrighetto and hudon, well this is not easy. but i am not protecting them, worst case one of the 2's gets pick and the other stays.

2.) 18 Mar 2016 14:04:43
Sharks:

Couture
Pavelski
Thornton
Hertl
Tierney
Marleau
Karlsson/ Nieto

Vlasic
Burns
Braun

Jones.

3.) 18 Mar 2016 14:26:10
Wait so prospects can't be protected?

4.) 18 Mar 2016 15:07:35
what i read was that players who played more than 2 seasons in ahl or nhl needs to be protected, they really want some quality to be available so vegas can have a competive group.

5.) 18 Mar 2016 15:09:01
17 Mar 2016 00:41:37
G-Allen
F-tarasenko
F-swartz
F-statsny
F-lehtera
F-steen
F-reaves
F-berglund
D-petro
D-shatty
D-edmundson

Parayko and fabbri are first year players. Yeah not sure how free agency works.

6.) 18 Mar 2016 15:10:36
Bud.

If you are in Juniors yes. If you are in AHL for less than 2 full years yes. Anything after 2 years is free game.

Can you imagine how many bad contracts will leave teams with their players if they don't protect them. Like Kessel just as exmple.

7.) 18 Mar 2016 15:10:59
proDepth are you sure about marleau, thornton? they will be ufa's i don't know if sharks plan to resign both of them. maybe wingels?, goldobin? timo meier?

8.) 18 Mar 2016 15:19:44
Colt, i was surprise to see you put stastny up there, fabri needs to be protected i think.

9.) 18 Mar 2016 15:58:57
Remember this won't be till after next season at the earliest. Nylander will need to be protected under the currently proposed rules (burning a year on elc this year) . Unsigned players 2 years after draft and players who have used 2 years of their ELC are eligible. Assuming TB keeps Stamkos and trades Drouin, and Koekkoek is ineligible for not burning an ELC year this year I'd go:

F Stamkos
F Kucherov
F Palat
F Johnson
F Namestnikov
F Killorn
F Brown

D Hedman
D Stralman
D Garrison

G Vasilevski

Bishop and Boyle will be UFA at the time. Assumes extentions to Hedman and Kucherov. Obviously could change dramatically with how Stamkos Drouin Hedman Kucherov situations play out.

10.) 18 Mar 2016 15:58:58
Timo Meier and Goldobin both have less than 2 years of pro experience, which means they don't need to be protected and are safe to stay in San Jose. I think you read the article wrong. Vegas will basically be full of 4th liners and FAs the first year.

And I chose Marleau and Thornton because I would rather protect them then say Joel Ward, Tommy Wingels, etc. Marleau may have dropped off but he's still a 50 point top six winger.

11.) 18 Mar 2016 16:39:43
This can be a little tough right now because we don't yet know how the league is going to treat NMCs and NTCs.

12.) 18 Mar 2016 18:28:47
Eddie Shore.

since this is the first professional year for Parayko and Fabbri they can not be claimed. Colt played College last year and Fabbri was in juniors.

13.) 18 Mar 2016 18:31:20
Honestly the players should do what's best for the nhl and bringing in more revenue. Allowing up to 60+ new players in the NHL expand the brand/.

14.) 18 Mar 2016 18:51:09
allowing more teams does not equal more money. more revenue, sure, but there is a difference between revenue and profit that i'm sure even you know. what if these new teams are not profitable? then the league and its teams have less money than before while having the greater expense of more teams.

its not nearly as simple as you make it out to be, tankie.

15.) 18 Mar 2016 20:09:37
Also a player with a nmc probably doesn't care about a new team. They earned the clause and would probably be pretty mad if they got chosen.

16.) 18 Mar 2016 21:30:50
Well Ithink a Guy like nylander should be include if its in one sumert from now IT would ne is Third year has a pro no? He did play a bit ni thé ahl least year?

17.) 18 Mar 2016 22:19:59
@ebsolutely
But if that is the approach taken, then it favors teams who have multiple players with NMCs or NTCs because they don't need to use a roster protection spot on them. It's like getting bonus spots to use. Like if Brian Elliott had a NTC (just an example) and Jake Allen didn't, STL could use their roster protection spot on Allen and not on Elliott and still retain both goalies. I think a lot of teams who don't have players with NMC/ NTCs won't like that very much.

On the other hand if the league wants to ignore NMC/ NTCs, the PA will probably lose their minds.

I think this may end up being the biggest obstacle to overcome in expansion. It's going to be tough to keep all those involved happy with the eventual outcome.

18.) 18 Mar 2016 23:29:24
JVR
Komarov
Kadri
nylander
bozak
gauthier
holland

rielly
gardiner
percy/ carrick?

sparks?

19.) 18 Mar 2016 23:39:22
What if they made u protect those players first. That would suck.

20.) 18 Mar 2016 23:51:26
Or nmc use up a protection spot. Meaning they have to retain Elliot and can't protect allen

Unless the nmc or ntc are willing to waive their nm/ nt.
As they would for a trade.

21.) 19 Mar 2016 01:17:23
hall
eberle
nuge
yakupov
pouliot/ maroon
mcdavid
draisaitl

klefbom
nurse
davidson

talbot

pretty sure mcdavid draisaitl nurse and davidson are already protected but just in case.

22.) 19 Mar 2016 01:17:23
hall
eberle
nuge
yakupov
pouliot/ maroon
mcdavid
draisaitl

klefbom
nurse

talbot

pretty sure mcdavid draisaitl nurse and davidson are already protected but just in case.

23.) 19 Mar 2016 02:15:00
Players with under 2 year NHL experience are protected and don't need to count towards the protect list.

Considering that this would happen in a few years and some of these players will probably have that by then.

-Horvat
-Virtanen
-McCann
-Baertschi
-Hansen
-Sedin's?

-Tanev
-Hutton
-Edler

-Markstrom/ Demko.

24.) 19 Mar 2016 02:15:33
Canucks really don't need to protect many players if it came to it.

25.) 19 Mar 2016 04:19:12
@Chirp yeah you'd see teams handing out nmc contracts if that was the case. Yeah I don't know what side I fall to but the players deserve there contracts to be accountable.

26.) 19 Mar 2016 09:13:50
@ebsolutely
I agree, if you have a NMC/ NTC then it should be honored. It's really not something the players themselves should have to worry about. I think it's more on the PA and -- to an even greater degree -- the league to figure out a way that these clauses can be honored without giving any team an advantage or disadvantage due to the number of NMC/ NTCs they have on their roster.

The only minor leeway I've thought of (tho not at great length) involves two things:
1. Those with limited clauses who teams would like to make available for an expansion draft, or the idea that both sides may see waiving of a clause beneficial, are allowed to be approached for it to see if they will allow a new expansion team to be on their list of teams they'd accept a "trade" to (even though it wouldn't be a trade exactly, but availability in an expansion draft) . That probably wouldn't solve much though, unless it's someone along the lines of Ference who -- even if he was healthy and not about to retire -- would lately be finding himself in the press box more often than on the ice and might actually be open to moving on to gain ice time. Those situations are pretty limited in number tho.

2. Those with clauses are to be made available for the expansion draft regardless, with the stipulation that the team essentially "waiving" them and making them available pays a portion of the contract they are under regardless of what the new club will also be paying them. Example: a player with a $5mil/ yr contract and NTC is made available, gets picked up by Las Vegas, LV pays them the same amount as their contract stipulates but they are also being paid an additional 50% of their running contract by their former team (essentially a bonus) for the remainder of the contract that they signed with their former club. Haven't really thought about whether it would be part of the former teams cap hit or exempt. That sort of thing would likely require a vote from the entirety of the PA, should it even get that far. I'm sure there are a great number of players who still wouldn't enjoy the idea of it, even if it means making 150% of their current contract. Just a rough idea I had.

27.) 19 Mar 2016 15:06:11
@Chirp yeah I kinda like that. Give them a little incentive to move teams. Even if they made full no trades exempt but modified no trades eligible it would be a little more fair.

28.) 19 Mar 2016 21:37:18
Another rule to remember is that each team must expose players that equal at least 25% of the overall teams salary.

19 Feb 2016 14:29:58
I just can't figure out how the **** therien is still coach. Yeo had a better record then him. He keeps throwing players under the bus, even tought we know they are not the problem. I can't recall a coach blaming the team leader in scoring for a lost. it is shame. I am starting to loss faith in bergevin, to many problems, no solutions, too many secrets, they are not fair with the fans. The latest rumor is that price got secretly operated in december. well i guess it is the cold war all over again.

12 Feb 2016 15:25:15
I am really tired of the edmonton oilers, they suck really bad, because there are enable to build a team that can win game they will end up with a top 3 pick, picking once again a great young offensive player. so they would have Laine (or pul or matthews or tkatchuk) mcdavid, draistl, yakupov, hall, rng, eberle, they have 7 forwards that would play on the first line of any other nhl team.

It is just ridiculous. They continusly are mediocre. When will this end? are they waiting to have 12 1st rounder forward 6 top 20 d-man and a first rounder goalie? .

So they need 19 1st picks they have 8 or 9, 10 more years and they would likely start winning. Be patient oilers fan it is coming.

Sincerely, a new born oilers hater.

Eddieshore

1.) 12 Feb 2016 15:34:45
They had some bad management over the last little while.. I think this new regime will get this team in the right direction. I don't like the fact either that they have all these top picks. I'd like to see the draft change some rules .. but. They have never been a team I would consider one that tanked.so it is what it is.. Jus bad management.

2.) 12 Feb 2016 15:35:04
Well I'm nothing close to an Oilers fan but I must say they've been unlucky this year. They've had terrible injuries this year. McDavid, Eberle, RNH, Yak, Klefbom and I'm sure others have missed significant time due to injury. Now I know injuries are part of the game and it happens but I don't know if they've even had their full lineup yet. Talbots been solid even though he's had his moments so oilers finally found their goalie. The D is very young but have some very good players, Nurse, Klefbom etc so the futures looking bright. Also will the Oilers have a high draft pick? Probably top 10 but next year I see them actually contending for a playoff spot.

3.) 12 Feb 2016 18:17:38
If bottom teams don't get high picks they'll stay in the bottom. It's pretty obvious why they do that. There are other teams that have been collecting high picks as well just no one lucky enough to win the lottery as much as Edmonton.

So mtl last 3 first picks, mtl best goaltender prospect. and their first round pick, to advance 5 rows in the draft and to have an overrated centerman who has never played 82 game and done more than 55 pts. And a flop who played on the fourth line of the second worst NHL team. Hope you were kidding.

We can say everything we want, but at the end of the line, if stamkos wants to sign in mtl bergevin will find a way to fit him in the cap as any dg would do if stamkos would want to a team. Personnaly i think if signing stamkos means we can not resign pacio in 3 years then we will adress the situation in 3 years and hey if we need to let him go, i am ok with it, as ladd after 2010 with the blackhawks, You just can't say, well stamkos would have accepted to come in mtl but we think in 3 years when we will have to resign price and paciorrety, we won't be able to sign pacio so because of that we have not made an offer to stamkos.
