You know with the amount of terrible trade proposals I feel like switching it up I wanna look at the flames projected lineup. Who are bubble players and who might be a dark horse to watch come training camp. I know it's really early and there's tons of offseason left deals can happen but right now what does the opening day lineup look like with that being said I will make one trade proposal at the end that isn't going to be as terrible as some of the ones on here.

Projected lineup

FORWARDS

Gaudreau Monahan Brouwer
Frolik Bennett Shinkaruk
Tkachuk Backlund Ferland
Bouma Stajan chiasson
Bollig vey

I believe with the players calgary has this is the best fit gives tkachuk some nhl minutes but allows him to play his game without playing against top lines he can ease himself in a little more and I think that will only benefit him in the end

Bubble players: jankowski, pribyl, poirier

Dark horse: mangiapane

I know there are forwards I am probably forgetting but give me a break I think that's a pretty nice lineup of forwards and it's my list so HAHA.

DEFENCE

Giordano Hamilton
Brodie jokipakka
Wideman Engellend
Wotherspoon

Bubble players:kylington, andersson

Dark horse:Morrison

Elliott
Johnson
Gillies

Reasoning behind splitting Brodie and giordano up. Think about it as you're filtering your defence with offence throughout the lineup giordano will make Hamilton better and Brodie will make jokipakka better and the idea of Hamilton and jokipakka together doesn't work for me I feel you need the veteran guys to pair up with the younger guys instill some life into each pairing now Wideman everyone gives him flack but here's the reality Wideman has a heavy shot on the powerplay and is still a good defenseman giving him some powerplay time with Hamilton and having giordano and Brodie make the first pair i think that works and yes I get the whole right shot left shot deal but I don't care it's my projection on what I believe gives the flames the best lineup. Looking at the team no matter how you fill the lines and what combinations you put with gulutzen as the coach speed is his style so some fast exciting hockey is coming for us flames fans. Oh and one more thing the battle of Alberta is back!

Now for that trade

Calgary trades
2nd round pick next year
4th round pick next year

Colorado trades
Jarome iginla

Say what you will about this trade you can't deny it would be nice to see iggy back with the team we have now even if it was a third line role he can still produce and it's something I think could work out if both teams wanted it too maybe I'm off on what calgary gives up but I think for iggy a 2nd and a 4th should do it depending on how much Colorado likes him. Realistically this won't happen but it's a cool concept to think about iggy back with the flames. Anyways I look forward to the season and can't wait to see the C OF RED for the home opener. GO FLAMES GO!

Avs would do it if iggy waives his NTC.

Im not reading all that, way too much lol, but as for the trade, I like it and I'd like to see Iginla retire in a Flames uniform.
Im not sure you're switching anything up as there is still a lot of good trades being proposed, but I really like this one, good job flames.

Nice nostalgic trade but Iggy's 5.33 mill won't cut it salary cap wise as the Flames are capped out IF little J and mono sign for what is anticipated market value. Av's would need to retain salary, which I just don't see happening.

4.) 12 Jul 2016 18:28:07
Having Shinkaruk and Tkuchuk in the lineup might not be the best way to go. Already a pretty young top 6 minus Frolik and Brouwer really. I like the idea of getting Iggy back to be able to send one of those two mentioned down and pop Iggy into the top 6. I agree he should retire a Flame. Iggy is awesome.

5.) 12 Jul 2016 18:37:56
If the Flames goalies don't pan out. Elliot and Johnson. would ya sacrifice one of your top young forwards for a top tier goalie. like a sign and trade with Bishop or something .?

6.) 12 Jul 2016 21:04:41
Elliot will stay Flames starter, but depending how he does this year will determine if he stays or not. Or if Calgary will go after another goalie.

7.) 12 Jul 2016 21:56:25
exactly what otto said, if Elliot proves to be a #1, then he will stay. if not, flames will look for acquiring a legitimate #1 goalie then. I also saw lots of articles saying that exact thing.

K99 you're right it wouldn't fit unless the flames made some kind of move to get some cap space like a Wideman. In terms of Shinkaruk and tkachuk in the lineup yea it might not be the best but I love the game tkachuk plays his one thing against him is skating which can improve over the summer and Shinkaruk is a calgary boy I feel that alone is motivation to prove something to the flames brass good call though Yup.

With Johnny hockey signing a 6 year 6.75 million dollar deal the flames have space too possibly add some depth curious too see what happens but P. A parenteau is cheap and has very good possession numbers could be a good fit and much needed scoring depth being he scored 20 goals on a terrible leafs team last season.

Shinkaruk was sent to the minors even though I don't agree with that it could be best for him to get good minutes as a top liner in Stockton so Bouma would take his spot here but other then that I like this trade. Gives calgary cap space to get Gaudreau done and still have cap space for maybe nakladal to come in over kulak and Wotherspoon maybe calgary would have to retain some salary being Widemans cap hit is a problem but I think it could work.

You know the problem with the nhl these days is there are too many players that want so much money oh I'll play for this if not I'll go somewhere else and get it. The love for the game of hockey is gone you're no longer playing because you love the sport and it's your passion you're playing for money it's pathetic honestly but it's the way of the league K99 you talk about if you were undervalued you wouldn't wanna play for that team OK well there's a perfect example of being 1. a bad teammate we have seen what happens to those the get booted and never truly recover and 2. Being selfish and not playing for the love of the sport you can't live off 3-4 mill a year with Canadian taxes dude get real don't need fancy things all the time how about take that other 3 million and invest it somewhere else make a difference in the world not your own life too selfish of a world we live in that's what's going to bring it down.

I look at it as you sign them to identical contracts and you call it a day these guys are the stars they want to play here they have said it all along that's why they didn't participate in the world championships they want to focus on next season and things they need to work on get better and come back in and have a strong season this team is on the rise no doubt these guys will play the only way they know how to play and that's hard every night.

Guys he obviously lives under a rock and doesn't know anything about hockey or what goes on behind the scenes. Hey bud it's called negotiations and we get it they aren't signed yet but does that matter it doesn't mean they are not wanted it means the flames organization is trying to figure out a number that works for the players and organization like come on there is a business side to it you do know that right? You can't just fork out money to a couple guys that are in their early 20's great players or not you have 21 other players that have to fit under the salary cap the flames gave themselves plenty of space to resign these two studs they left 14 million after the moves they have made with brouwer johnson and Elliott. Drafting tkachuk is huge I love his game and the way he plays fits into the style calgary needs to play to be a contender in the west lots of grit and has tremendous hockey IQ. K99 look at the team do some research on the salary cap and the business side of hockey oh and while you're at it please stop making a fool out of yourself you sound like a typical oiler fan go away! Sincerely the C OF Red.
