Okay, well here's the thing, This deal was not done on deadline day, so the likeliness of this deal happening on draft day is slim, and I'll tell you why. Anaheim currently has a 6 mill in cap space, and have a bunch of UFA's and RFA's to sign, Hampus Lindholm is coming off an ELC, Vatanen off a 1.25 mill contract and the whole Freddy Andersen ordeal, GM's are not stupid, they know Anaheim will have some woes with being to close to the cap, they won't nessisarily be desperate to ship someone out, but they need to, that's why I see stocks like Sami Vatanen, who is worth about an Eberle now, drop. Not significantly, but just not worth Eberle anymore, who they might have even retain salary off of, which is better for the ducks.

Vatanen would need to be paid at least what klefbom makes. With 7 spots you need to fill on your 23 man roster you oilers might not be able to handle it. Edmonton may have to give a $6million player away for cheap, especially if cap is stagnant or it drops.

Leafhater really? Galchenyuk? Eller and backlund are very similar players both drafted high but underachieved, they usually finish with between 10-15 goals. Good 3rd liner, 2nd AT BEST.

Honestly, yep, Yak isn't worth a ton these days. That's not to say this proposal is good because the Oilers have very little use for it, but he ain't worth a ton. Something like Gelinas and a 2nd from NJ would work for me.

The plus side to making this trade is that you have a 3rd line center. But wait sane habs fan we have RNH at 6 mill to be a 3rd line center, your idea is so stupid cause who wouldn't want him as your 3rd line center Making that trade give you the flexibility to turn around and trade RNH for a pretty decent dman. This is the thing with the oilers. They have unbelievable talent up front but have you ever heard of slotting people into their rolls. RNH is not a 3rd line center he could be a #1 on some teams. He is too small and skilled to be a 3rd line center. You want a bigger body that can shut down other teams top lines, doesn't have to score a ton but will get 10 to 20 but can carry the puck around the ice for days. LARS ELLER. To me EDM until you figure this out your average goaltending and below average defence will never win you a cup. unless McDavid scores you 7 a game which I a possibility. Cheers.

How do you even know Nuge is now Oilers third line center? He literally hasn't played a game as third line center with all the injuries. He very well could be traded in off season. Or they might plan on playing Nuge or Drai on the wing. When they first called up Drai he was on the wing with Hall and Nuge.
And they could very well roll 3 solid lines to start next year with McDavid, Drai and Nuge as top 3 centers, Drai and McD still on entry level $ so having a potential $6M "third line center" wouldn't really matter. Pens had success with Crosby, Malkin, Staal down the middle for a few years.

Yep. Go back and read mine again before you have a little melt down. With the talent you have down the middle with McDavid and Draisitl you don't need a RNH to play a wing for them. You got pouliot and Eberle and hall and I'm sure you can find another cheaper right-wing to play with them. Possibly as Kassian could fit that line. Oilers don't have the right glue guys they could honestly use a guy like Dale Weise for their 3rd line. Plus your great idea of RNH playing the wing takes away what I said about trading him for a decent dman. I would seriously try for Dumba out of Minnesota or maybe fowler out of ana. Your defence is below average so this helps a different area of need. This is why your in last place. I do have faith in Chiarelli though. Leafs17 you are right though Matthews would look great on the 4th line. Then in 3 years when he become an RFA and they have to pay him the can trade him and draft a first overall pick again.

I think Markov could fetch more than that. A team that needs a guy on the power play to help with a push for the cup would give up more... i do see why ya say a 7th. Age has caught up to him.. he's had quite a few turnovers latley..

You do know that Edmonton tried to get Markov last year and the way MTL is playing that 1st pick will be pretty high.
