I understand that the leafs ideal player to get would be a top 4 RHD however if Mcdonagh is there only option I think he can still obviously help them.

Kinda hard to get value right but they would have to part with Lilj or Dermott but I think they would rather keep Dermott as he is proving himself.

Value for a player for player trade seems ok, but everyone keeps forgetting that Karlsson is a free agent and IS bolting to the highest bidder for nothing after next year.

Yzerman pretty much always wins the trades and I don't think Yzerman is an all in gambling type GM. I don't think he'd sell out his future for a couple of years of Karlsson's service.

Realistically I think 1 - first and Sergachev is more likely what Stevie would be inclined to offer. Ottawa might be able to play a little hard ball and net a later round pick as well.

As much as anyone would love to have Duchene on their team I don't think he's a fit on Calgary. Their glaring holes are a top line RW and overall depth (Elliott has been playing much better recently, almost as if he wants that extension)

Nope. Oilers have great team chemistry going and there's no reason for anyone to move anywhere at this time.

As far as the proposed deal.
Gotta give quality to get quality, and there is nothing of quality that is coming from the Flames in this deal.

1st rounder is likely a #14 or 15 pick after low lotto odds finish. Nothing of value in this year's draft after about 5 so pick is of little value. Bennett is a career 3rd liner on a contending team, and Klimchuk hasn't even played an NHL game yet.

Better offer up a lot more to attain Duchy than this pile o garbage.

I know the leafs don't want to trade Nylander but him and marner have similar playing styles so it wouldn't be the worst thing and if they want a solid right handed d man they might have so how about this?

If the leafs do trade Nylander it has to be for a defenseman that is staying with the team. You don't trade a good young forward for a rental when you're not a contender. The leafs should've never traded Steen years ago but he's 32 now and is not what the team needs.

Pittsburgh always does better when either malkin or crosby are playing but not both. So why not trade one of them. They obviously aren't going to trade Crosby. I know this would be one of the biggest trades ever but Malkin for Subban throw in some little details and i could see it happen. Thoughts?

I agree Luke. The last few years, if one of the two was hurt, the other stepped up their game. The Penguins could definitely use some depth and Malkin would be the way to do it. I don't see Montreal trading Subban for a #1 center though because it would fill one void and leave another.

I get that they want to keep Carrick but 2.5mil for. 7th D man when you have Lilj coming up. Also I would keep Bozak and JVR for a playoff push then if you lose them you lose them then you have more money in free agency.
