Avs get great scoring winger plus a very good up and coming d man to reduce the sting of losing Barrie.
Oil also reduce risk of losing Davidson in expansion draft

Only way I can see them moving Barrie is if they have a defender coming back in a seperate deal. Otherwise it makes no sense to make their d-core weaker when it's already not good.

Well they are getting a defender back. Doesn't make much sense to trade Barrie but there's a decent chance it happens. Also the logic of trading Davidson because you risk losing him makes no sense when your getting another D back.

The thing about this is how you said oilers will get a decent prospect back. Do you think we should be getting a decent forward prospect? No that is stupid. Oilers overpaying in this and it weakens their own team. Bad deal for oilers. And reduce risk of losing Davidson? Eberle and Nuge are essential core pieces of the team and shouldn't be involved in trades unless the name is Webber or eq back regardless of what this D man "market" is like.
Oilers do not need a top 4 defenceman until after the Expansion draft as they'd have to expose the Dman traded for and have him plucked away for nothing.
Eberle is a top 6 forward, and Davidson is a cost efficient D-man almost equal in value to Barrie, so basically trade is Give the best D prospect the Oil have had in a long time, Give away Eberle for nothing but 1 year of Barrie's service and a minor leaguer who might play an NHL game.
GM K99 passes on the proposal from the Oilers end and holds pat on trading anyone but bottom 6 / minor leaguers until after the expansion draft.

all you oiler fans, they need to move one of their top forwards with big caps hit and improve their D, the oiler suck and will continue to suck until they fix their D and that's only happening if or when they trade another one of their top 6 core for another Dman.

Our D has already improved a lot since last year, getting a healthy Klef back, Larsson, and with the emergence of Davidson. Oilers won't trade for a defenseman until the expansion is done, and everyone can see who is available still and who is not. Oilers already gave up their top forward for a top D, so what do you think they just did? Oh yeah did everything you just said. Eberle + Davidson for Barrie and a prospect is a terrible trade for Oilers.

OK Linda what you just said was a waste of time. What did oilers just do? Traded away a top forward to improve the D. Don't act superior and say Oilers suck when they are clearly improving their team, making the necessary changes.
As for the trade, it's garbage for Oilers. This doesn't help Oilers at all just creating more holes.

All you EDM fans keep saying Davidson is some sort of god send. He's had 1 good year, until he consistently proves it he is not enough to be considered "almost equal value to Barrie"

rederov, please go watch some games before dissuading those that have. Davidson may not have the offensive #'s Barrie has, but is better in other areas and is physically bigger which IMO makes him pretty close to eq overall. Players sometimes need playing time to evolve and he finally got a break and got some mins last year. He didn't have 1 good year. He had a great last half of the season. It's up to the player to continue to improve upon the strides taken last year. Very good potential from Davidson to be as good as Barrie, for a fraction of the cost.

Both Davidson and Eberle require protection.
Greer does not need protection in the expansion draft, but Barrie does. Oilers gain one extra protection spot and maybe we lose Pouliott instead of Davidson as the roster sits right now.
I don't mind his trade for the protection sake alone. Vegas WILL be taking Davidson. So really the trade becomes Eberle for Barrie plus Greer. Easy yes from Edmonton.

Rederov- have you watched Davidson play? The guy got comfortable very quick. In fact I think the oil held his growth back this past year and should have paired him higher.
He is the real deal.
Another guy I have my eyes on this year before I anoint him like us oil fans have of Davidson is Osterille. This dude is a true sleeper. Take a flyer on him too.

Ronny Davidson may not be as offensive as Barrie as whoever said, but he is already so much better defensively and reliable on the back end. He's going to be real good.

Davidson doesn't have the value of Barrie but I'm curious to know his value after another season. He was definitely solid. Also Osterle is a Schultz 2.0. Might make it in the NHL but he's nothing special.

Just speculation he might go over to the KHL at this point.

I could see it, but only if NYR has a back-pocket deal of their own to replace Yandle. Kings need a middle-4 D for their playoff run and have been looking for one pretty much all year, I could definitely see them taking this deal. NYR isn't dead in the water and would certainly like to make a playoff push of their own so giving up a Dman isn't generally the best way to go about that, but they also aren't going to extend Yandle so getting something for him before FA would be a good idea. If the Rangers could get another deal done elsewhere to go along with this one, I could see them pulling the trigger.
