Liane apparently wants out. Avs have cap space and lots of assets.

Avs: Alex Kerfoot, Nikita zadorov, 4th overall

Jets: Liane

Jets get a cheap centre to improve their centre depth, a decent D also for pretty cheap, and a high pick, so they save a ton of cap (factoring in lianes extension), but the avs get a guy who is capable of putting up 50 goals, and the best player in the trade.

PittsburghFinest

1.) 04 Jun 2019 06:15:00
It doesn't work for Winnipeg at all. It would need to be built around Makar in all likelihood.

2.) 04 Jun 2019 13:14:33
Makar And 4th overall for Laine.

3.) 04 Jun 2019 13:23:19
Laine has 8 more points than Kerfoot Jets fans so settle down. I think that’s a really solid offer. If the Jets are too trade Laine I don’t think they win the trade. But depending on the 4th overall they could win this one.

4.) 04 Jun 2019 13:42:17
Laine being traded to Colorado is a possibly but the Jets would want a better package than this. But he isn't going anywhere as he will resign with the Jets.

Leafs: Zaitsev, Bracco, 3rd

Senators: 6th

Leafs offload a contract, and have enough to sign marner, etc.

Sens get a prospect, improve their pick, and could possibly offload zaitsev at a later date with some salary retention

PittsburghFinest

1.) 31 May 2019 05:34:21
I know zaitsev hasn't had the best run recently in Toronto but he's still capable of playing in the NHL. He's overpaid but he's doesn't have zero value, too many people heard Don Cherrys rant and just piled on. Last time I checked the Leafs were short on NHL ready defence, not to mention he was the only RHD to consistently play for them last season and one of there bigger bodies on the back end.

I'm not saying teams will be lining up to trade there best prospects for him, but the Leafs are a worse team without him and trading him for nothing makes zero sense.

2.) 31 May 2019 14:10:43
Leafs should avoid trading Bracco he’s cheap and NHL ready. Would rather move Kappanen or Johnsson they have more value.

20 May 2019 19:54:23
Leafs: Nylaned, Lilligren, 2nd

Wild: Dumba

Is this enough for dumba?

Too much or too little?

PittsburghFinest

1.) 20 May 2019 20:54:41
Anyone in a Leafs uniform that can't put up points in the NHL or AHL still needs to be valued as "elite" in point production anyways. We hear it all the time from Leaf fans about Kadri, Nylander, etc. So, no way Toronto considers this.

2.) 20 May 2019 20:56:55
Seems like a little much but maybe I'm overvaluing Nylander.

3.) 20 May 2019 21:05:02
Toronto says no thanks.

4.) 20 May 2019 21:20:14
Not enough, Nylander has a lot to prove after this year and Liljegren hasn’t proven anything, Dumba on the other hand is a proven beast.

5.) 20 May 2019 22:28:38
Dumba has developed into a 1st pairing d-man so the Leafs would have to make a trade that would reflect this. An over paid, soft Nylander, a questionable prospect and 2nd wouldn't get this trade done, except in the minds of some Leaf fans.

6.) 20 May 2019 23:08:44
It’s sad how people say Nylander is overpayed he’s like 21 and already has 2 60 point seasons. He’s a star in the making. Looked better then Patrick Laine this season.

7.) 21 May 2019 01:22:47
You guys are crazy this is more than enough. Nylander had 2 60 point season at 6.9m. Liljegren is a good defence prospect and a 2nd? Yall seriously underrate these leaf players

8.) 21 May 2019 04:11:05
I think it's an overpayment.

9.) 21 May 2019 04:18:38
Not a chance nylander had a better season than liane. he had an off year and still had 30 goals. But on the bright side nylander may come close in wc points than he had with the leafs this season. It's a start.

10.) 21 May 2019 11:20:07
30 goals in way more games and he also didn’t begin playing mid season.

11.) 21 May 2019 13:08:02
mebiasedjoe your leafs envy buthurt is showing again.

13 May 2019 17:32:11
Pens: Kassel + Jack Johnson

Wild: spurgeon + zucker

Other pieces may be needed but this could be a basis for a trade. Salaries are about even.

Thoughts?

PittsburghFinest

1.) 14 May 2019 00:48:52
Oh no. But this will never do. Fat and lazy Kessel is still much better than Zucker the Sucker. Spurgeon is not so much better than the Johnson to make this trade happen.

11 May 2019 04:58:39
Pens: Maata, Jack Johnson, 21st overall pick.

Vancouver: Jay Beagle, 2019 2nd.

Pens get rid of one BAD contract (JJ) and one guy who seems to be the odd man out lately but a couple of years ago was a decent defender. Beagle is more for cap.

PittsburghFinest

1.) 11 May 2019 11:59:52
Okay, so to "get rid of one bad contract" that has 4 years at 3.25m left, the Penguins give up Maatta and a first rounder, just to get back a bad contract that has 3 years left at 3m? Makes a ton of sense lol.

2.) 11 May 2019 14:24:50
I thought Johnsson was 4.25.

3.) 11 May 2019 15:27:08
It’s 3.25mil/ season.

4.) 12 May 2019 00:34:27
Oh no. This will never do. Pittsburgh must not trade two defense. But who will play defense for them after? Is Leta g so good to play all defense himself?

{note to Ed: If this post does not comply with rules or it seems like it will not yield a good result, please do not post}

Which teams fans (on this site or just in general) overvalues their players the most? Which people (on this site) do you think shows the most bias towards their team, and which people (on this site) do you think have post the most fair trades?

PittsburghFinest

1.) 06 Jul 2019 20:22:55
Every fan on here overvalues their own players cause it's human nature to do so.

2.) 06 Jul 2019 20:26:25
Yah every person in the world has some bias that can’t be measured.

3.) 06 Jul 2019 20:59:11
I really over valued what Trouba could get in a trade but I don't think anyone would have predicted such a poor return the Jets received for him from the Rangers.

4.) 06 Jul 2019 23:52:00
Trouba over valuing himself is probably the cause of that low return.

5.) 07 Jul 2019 06:47:48
Islandjet and Redwing easily

6.) 07 Jul 2019 08:07:16
VB def has the worst takes on everything
And Pinball is one of the biggest blind homers.

7.) 07 Jul 2019 15:00:42
On what Marner? Please tell me how the 22 year old superstar can’t be as good as Kucherov? Why should the leafs trade a player with such high potential? Your Tampa bay bias is strong please make a fair value trade for Kucherov and Marner and compare them to see value differential in your mind.

8.) 07 Jul 2019 17:40:10
Oh VB that’s easy. He actually seems to be serious about what he’s saying. I’d say that memarcus account or whatever that overvalues every Jets player but it seems he’s trolling.

Everybody is biased towards their team though.

9.) 07 Jul 2019 18:04:56
@VB
Kucherov >> Marner.
Marner has been carried for his entire career. During his OHL career he was on the strongest team in the CHL. His forward teammates included Domi, Dvorak and McCarron, Tkachuk, Max Jones (1st,2nd,1st,1st,1st round picks) not to mention Juolevi on defence.
When he joined the leafs he was also carried by Matthews, Nylander, Tavares etc.

Don’t get me wrong, Marner is a really excellent player but when you put him on a struggling team with little offensive help, is it reasonable to even expect him to be PPG? If you put him on the Senators what will be his realistic stats?
15 goals 55-60 assists?

During Kucherov’s junior career he was on a team who struggled. Their best player (other than Kucherov) was Andrighetto who was drafted in the third round and none of their goalies had a save % above .900 .

Also basically carried the 2016-17 Lightning by himself. He had 85 points and the next forward with the most points had 53. Very little help from his forwards.

10.) 07 Jul 2019 19:36:12
How can one lead a team in Points and be carry’d? Marner can do everything he’s one of the better PKers in the whole NHL no he’s not known to be a sniper but he’s debatably the most creative player in the game. Only time will tell how many points he’ll put up in about 4 years when he actually enters his prime.

11.) 07 Jul 2019 19:42:16
Ohh and on Ottawa he’d probably be on a line with Tkachuk and Pageau. He’d probably go 30G 40A 70P last season Marner needs a scorer on his line to feed to be the the best he can be no one in Ottawa can do that so he’d most likely shoot MUCH more resulting in more goals. Kucherov would probably go 40G 40A 80P in Ottawa don’t think Pageau or Tkachuk would compliment either player that much at the the NHL level maybe Tkachuk if the Center was a goal scorer.

12.) 07 Jul 2019 19:55:46
Here we go with the Kucherov/ Marner discussion again. They’re both really good players, can everyone just shut the f up already?

13.) 07 Jul 2019 22:24:13
Lol VB did you just say yourself that Marner needs a scorer on his line to get assists and points?

Argument is over buddy.
Point is Marner can’t carry the team, Kucherov can. There are elite players and players that can carry an entire franchise on their back.

So what you’re saying is that Marner carried Auston Matthews or John Tavares since Marner lead the team in points? Every time you make a counter argument it’s one step forward two steps back.

14.) 07 Jul 2019 22:28:25
Also, Marner can do everything and one of the better PKs in the whole league? That’s hilarious. He wasn’t even in the top 30 in the Selke Trophy. Players like Cirelli and Brandon Tanev were ahead of him.

15.) 08 Jul 2019 10:33:57
Okay, here's a few things:

While I agree with TyBa4 saying that Kucherov is a bit better than Marner etc. I don't think it's fair to say that Marner got carried. At least not last season. He is the Leafs best player, period. He's better than Tavares and easily better than Matthews.
This whole "carrying" thing is stupid anyways. No one is carrying anyone. It's just good players playing hockey together, regardless whether that's Kuch and Point, Marner and JT or McDavid and Draisaitl. All of those 6 guys mentioned are elite, elite players.

The point is, don't say Marner is better than Kucherov before he gets 130 points, too, alright?

And yes, Marner deserves credit for his defensive play and also PK work. "One of the best PKers" in the league might be a stretch but he's def pretty good at it.

Oh and while we're at it. Someone please actually watch Cirelli play. If it wasn't for him having no name value at all, he shoulda easily been a top 10 Selke finish. Easily.

16.) 08 Jul 2019 13:08:45
@The_Triplets I agree with everything you've said but Mathews>>Tavares. Mathews elevated his game in the playoffs and was the Leafs best player offensively easily. Mathews does it by himself on his line while Tavares has Marner to inflate his stats. After Mathews has a healthy season you’ll agree but then again you must admit you have hate towards Mathews.

17.) 08 Jul 2019 14:29:14
Vb
Draisaitl basically took your side, why’re you still arguing?

18.) 08 Jul 2019 15:46:06
Well I don’t understand how all the leafs players are so overrated Marner litterly carried the team on his back with out him the leafs would be a bottom 5 team running for Lafranier.

19.) 09 Jul 2019 08:32:30
See VB, those stupid takes is why no one likes you or thinks you're credible with anything you say.

And no, I don't have hate towards Matthews, why would I? Not his fault, TOR media and fans treat him like he is >= McDavid, which he very clearly isn't.

30 Jun 2019 02:23:06
Kessel heading to the desert of Arizona for Chucky and Pierre olive Joseph. Wondering what you guys think about it. Who do you think won? Any thoughts?

PittsburghFinest

1.) 30 Jun 2019 05:14:10
My first thought is I wonder if Arizona still thinks galchenyuk is a first line centre lol. My 2nd thought is imo as I don't have any faith left in galchenyuk and never did have much faith in Joseph is that Arizona got kessel pretty cheap.

2.) 30 Jun 2019 05:22:52
I dunno who this other guy from Arizona is, but if Galchenyuk could jus play the game he is capable of, he could be a 35g and 70 to 75 pt guy.
I wonder where he will play? Wing?

I think it's a good trade for Penguins.

3.) 30 Jun 2019 07:32:53
Kessel scores and does nothing else well.
Galchenyuk is an average all-around player.
Who knows regarding the prospects/ picks.

Pens shed salary, Yotes got scoring.
Both teams win, Pens probably 60/ 40 since they’ve got scoring on 3 lines and opened up space for defensive help on their D and bottom-6. Not as lop-sided as some folks seem to suggest.

4.) 30 Jun 2019 17:01:50
If you still have faith in galchenyuk and you think he can turn it around playing with malkin and Crosby then the deal might not look as bad but chuck is a ufa at seasons end and the yotes just got a ppg player with a 6.8 mil cap hit for the next 3 years Who apparently for some reason wanted to go there.

5.) 30 Jun 2019 19:23:56
Habby, I don't have faith in him as a centerpiece of the team, but I do feel an addon to the talent surrounding him, he could have a career year. plus, like you said, it's a contract year. they always seem to have some motivation for that. if he's on the wing with either Crosby or Malkin, well he's obviously playing with the best he's ever had, and. for Crosby or Malkin they also get ( not the best) but one of the more talented players they have had on the wing. jus to bad Chucky can't figure out how to use all that skill. Maybe these guys will get that out of him.

6.) 30 Jun 2019 21:38:45
I think deslaurier could score 20 on a line with Crosby or malkin so chucky better have a good year or his next contract could be in the KHL.

7.) 30 Jun 2019 22:12:38
Lol. That's a possibility forsure .

21 Jun 2019 17:22:55
Hypothetically if the oilers decided they wanted to trade McDavid, what do you think the could get?

For example: Ekblad and Huberdeau, or Barrie and rantanen. Personally I wouldn't do either of those if I was Florida or Colorado.

What do you think he could get?

(You could include picks and prospects too)

PittsburghFinest

1.) 21 Jun 2019 17:50:51
That is really tough to answer. I believe the Oilers would ask for far more than is reasonable to consider from any team. I think the Oilers would ask for the top 2 players from whatever team and likely a 1st round pick as well, depending on who the top 2 players are.

For your two examples, I can't see the Oilers considering those deals at all.

I'm not saying McDavid is worth that necessarily, but that is what the Oilers would want.

2.) 21 Jun 2019 19:00:39
If he completely heals from his leg injury he could get a great return from any teams as he is the best player in the league. However any team trading for him would have to fill the holes the players that went to the Oilers left so McD might be on a team that is going to be in a rebuild situation. This would be great for the Oilers but bad for McD.

3.) 22 Jun 2019 03:03:23
Less then what the Lakers payed for Davis

Probably

McDavid

For

Cale Makar, Tyson Jost, 4th overall and 2020 1st

This would mean the oilers re enter rebuild mode and look to move all vets and Nuge/ Larsson they probably keep Drais.

4.) 22 Jun 2019 03:06:43
It's stupid to waste time and talk about this imo. It will never happen. For it to even be considered it would need to be a massive and i mean MASSIVE overpayment. McDavid is Edmonton's boy. He sells tickets and brings in huge amounts of revenue. It's not just about being a good hockey players. The kid sells seats.

5.) 22 Jun 2019 10:04:57
Are you nuts? Barrie is a pending UFA next summer, COL would personally walk Rantanen and Barrie to Edmonton if that got them McDavid. EDM doesn't even consider either proposal.

31 May 2019 22:42:07
Realistically who do you think the biggest names that will move this summer will be?

By move I mean be on a different team from the one they ended 2018-19 with, including free agency

Mine would probably be
Panarin, Trouba, kessel, bobrovsky

PittsburghFinest

1.) 01 Jun 2019 05:58:38

2.) 01 Jun 2019 09:19:23
Karlsson on TB, obv ;)

3.) 02 Jun 2019 01:50:56
karlsson back to the sens 7 years 11+ lol.

27 May 2019 14:19:50
Ryan ORielly or Patrice Bergeron?
Vladimir Tarasenko or David Pasternak?
Tukka Rask or Jordan Binnington?
Tory Krug or Alex Pietrangelo?
Colton Paryko or Charlie McAvoy?
Jay boumester or Zdeno Chara?
David Krejci or Jaden Schwartz?
Pat Maroon or Charlie Coyle?
Brayden Schenn or Brad Marchand?

Who you taking? Any other pairs? Should anyone be switched?

PittsburghFinest

1.) 27 May 2019 20:11:06
Bergeron
Pasta
Rask but its close.
Petro
Parayko
Bouwmeester
Schwartz easily.
Coyle
Marchand easily.

I think topend wise, offense vs defense, its going to be close to a wash. Its going to be guys like Coyle, Kuraly, Mojo, Bozak, Thomas, Steen, Sundqvist who will win their team the cup - whoevers depth plays better essentially.

2.) 27 May 2019 22:01:46
I have the same list as top shelf other than I’d take Chara in a heartbeat. I’d rather see St. Louis win but I’d bet on Boston.

3.) 28 May 2019 03:57:57
My answer would be exact as Leafs17.

4.) 28 May 2019 10:55:47
It’s not even comparable imo I’m taking same as leafs 17 not sure how you don’t take chars but okay.

5.) 28 May 2019 10:41:04
You should have the captains head-to-head. In which case I take Chara. Oh yes.

6.) 28 May 2019 11:57:24
After watching the rounds against Toronto and even Carolina, Chara seemed to be exposed a lot, and looked extremely slow. I haven’t really seen Bouw for a lot of the playoffs (havent watched the west all that much), but from what I’ve seen from Chara this playoff hasn’t been all that great.

7.) 28 May 2019 17:14:51
Obviously Chara has never been a speedster by any means and has depended on his reach and long stick and strength, but he has definitely slowed down to the point where all he can do is obstruct or waterski on guys as they are blowing by him. If you watch the Bruins play in person it becomes really obvious (when you are able to keep your eye on him the whole time instead of watching on tv where the camera follows the play/ puck) . Honestly, you could call an interference/ hooking/ holding penalty on him once a period but they let him get away with it.

Now, that said, the guy keeps signing sweetheart one year deals (next year I think he makes like $2 mln? ) which given all the intangibles he brings (experience, leadership, etc. ) I'm sure most teams in the league would love to have a guy like him at that price.

8.) 29 May 2019 10:11:44
Bergeron, Pastrnak, Rask, Pietrangelo, Parayko, Chara, Schwartz, Coyle, Marchand

Technically the first is 2019 if sjs misses the playoffs. They get a 2nd if karlsson resigns, it turns into a first if sjs also makes the finals this year. If Karl's son plays for an eastern conference team it's a no later than 2022 first.
