So this one is a major stretch and i know it!
It's just a trade that I would give almost anything to see happen!

I think in order for this to happen, the Leafs would have to overpay. Whether you think this proposal has done that
Breakdown: Leafs trade a top line winger, a top 4 D man, a B+ level D prospect and a B level forward prospect. And a pick.

If you want Ekblad out of Florida you would have to drastically overpay. The offer imo would have to be Matthews, Reilly, marner and 2017 1st. I'm 99.999% certain they don't wanna trade Ekblad.

Yah i mean I kinda agree with Scott and Draft McD but I doubt Toronto would even do Mathews for Ekblad just because they need a Franchise center so badly but that's what it would probably take.

Come on draft mcdavid, i know this offer is absolutely laughable but really, Matthews, Marner, Rielly and basically a top 10 pick? that's absurd. rielly is good defenceman, he's no ekblad but really, watch him play and he's pretty damn good. Matthews is supposedly as good as eichel (dont give me BS o he's a prospect we may never know, same coulve gone for eichel, mackinnon or basically anyone), Marner has elite level talent, and the first is a solid first. Come on, we all know better, don't just throw up an offer of all the best that one team got because you don't know their skill level.

Florida would want Marner and Rielly to get this trade done. Ekblad is a #1 20 year old on a good team while Reilly is at best 3/ 4 d-man on a top team (Leaf Nation will hate that comment) and Marner is unproven at the NHL level. I don't believe the Leafs would give them up as they are both expected to lead the leafs to the playoffs. and probably will in 3/ 4 years.

Ekblad is not available, nor should he be. But to make a suggestion that a team gives up 3 well above average players/ prospects a couple being at the elite level plus a top pick is ludicrous. So some of you you must think florida would say no for a McDavid/ ekblad straight up trade.

I'm not saying Reilly won't develop into a solid 1/ 2 d-man in the future but right now he is at best a 3/ 4 on good teams. He still makes young d-man mistakes that good d-men grow out of by 25. Ekblad and OEL in Arizona are two exceptions that have developed fast and play well above what their age suggests. But a trade right now Ekblad is a much better D-man than Reilly. If Reilly doesn't develop as he should the Panthers would need the leafs to sweeten the pot with Marner as insurance. After all Flo would be giving up a stud that will anchor any defense for 10+ years.

Here is a good trade for the Leafs.
To Leafs: D Merrill, G Blackwood and 11th oa pick 2016 and 3rd rounder 2016
To New Jersey: LW Jvr.
New Jersey gets a bonified scoring power foward who's from NJ to help their weak forward lines.
Toronto gets a good defensive prospect, a great Goalie prospect and a first and third.
But what do you all think?

Here's a trade that will benefit both teams equally I think.
NYI - Phaneuf, Kadri, Leivo & 3rd round pick.
For
TOR - Ryan Strome, Michael Dal Colle & cap dump. Maybe Grabovski (5m) or Clutterbuck (2.75 m)
the Islanders are at about $60million for their cap so $11 million to take in salary is doable. Especially with the offset of salaries and a cap dump.

Leafs Draft:
Strome & Marner
Arizona gets an offensive winger to be a first line centre piece.
Even though Hanifin is a great
Defense prospect I think having 2 players that both scored 120+ points in the OHL would be more beneficial.
Marner is more of a left winger imo and they would make a pretty sweet first line with Conner Brown at RW.
They remind me of a Toews and Kane kinda combo. Now tell me that I'm a typical Leaf fan that over values our players. Lol

I would rather draft Strome rather than Marner, you know, get that big and skilled potential top line center to play with Brown and Nylander. That combo is more Toews and Kane like in my opinion.

I think you do in this scenario. I would pass on Hanifan because he grew up a Boston Bruins fan and chances are he would not really want to be a Maple Leaf all that much. At least not as much as Strome & Marner do! Despite his admission that he would be happy to play anywhere he is drafted. Just my Opinion! I would love those 2 guys bleeding Blue and White all over the ice for the next 20 years!

For
Arizona- RW Phil Kessel, 2nd rp 2016, 3rd rp 2015.
Leafs Draft: C/W Dylan Strome, LW/C Mitch Marner.
Arizona gets a good scoring winger.
Toronto gets a future 1st line of:
LW C RW
Marner D.Strome Domi
Amazing potential with pre existing chemistry.
good Value for both teams!

I disagree with everyone! Dubois is a sick player. On a crap team he put up star quality numbers. He reminds me of a young Vinny lacavalier with an even higher skill set! Great pick by Columbus!

Wow, Is this another weak shot at the Leafs and their fans? Far too much of this garbage goes on on this site! if you hate the Leafs, that's your perogative! As a Leaf fan I would definitely love that return however I think Toronto adds either a decent player and/or a draft pick. Not a first or anything but maybe a second and say Robidas or Polak. Good post tho! I hope they do this trade!

I actually think that these are pretty good value for both teams! Don't listen to all of the stupid haters on here! I think that all of these would be considered by both sides! IMO way too many people on this site feel like they have the inside track on nhl trades or they act like someone they know is an NHL GM LOL! GOOD POST MAN!
