The reason they'd trade Shattenkirk is because they won't be able to resign him so trading him for a 7 million dollar contract wouldn't make sense.

Okay hear me out, I know CAR wouldn't want to get rid of their youngins but the return is rather even in my opinion. OTT gets the top 6 FWD they've been looking for, altough he is an injury risk. CAR gets solid vets plus a B prospect who can maybe thrive with a change of scenerey and a chance to play in the NHL. They do get a cap dump in Greening, but he could also be a decent player in they're bottom six and on top of that they get leadership and grit from Neil plus a first next year.

As a sens fan, i'd rather have methot wayyy more than yandle, due to the fact that Methot and Karl complement eachothers game so well. and putting yandle on with karl would be 2 offensive defencemen together.
