Puli is worth nothing at this point. He said he wants to stay in Europe and that the NHL is overrated.

@Vertius, Kovalchuk and a 4th round pick is very well paid for a player who will never play for Edmonton. Furthermore, the team is asking questions about Kovi according to Sportsnet. Also, Edmonton would have taken a third round pick for Jesse before he left for Europe.

There is a lot of nonsense being thrown around on this one. Kovi is worth maybe a 3rd round pick. He's a rental who was very bad for the last year and a half before MTL signed him. No guarantee he keeps it up for another team. EDM has held firm they think Puljujarvi is a valuable asset. Even more so now that he has been playing well overseas. Giving up a young asset, plus a pick, for an older rental with about a month of good play is asinine.
That said, it is Ken Holland, so maybe.

I'm sure Montreal would need an hour or two to think over such an offer.

If the offer is 4th, Draisaitl, Klefbom for Subban and 9th like you say. I'd accept from the Habs end for sure.

Pretty good offer if you ask me. I think Edmonton would rather give up RNH instead but obviously Montreal would rather have Draisaitl.

I can't imagine the upgrade from klef to subban is nearly as much as the downgrade from draisaitl and 4th to 9th. I'd think no from EDM, though it's certainly not the worst proposal ever.

If Oilers offered Nuge, Klef, and the 4th overall pick for Subban, and let's say Eller, then that would be a more realistic trade as Klef + 4th for Subban, and Nuge for Eller makes sense as Montreal get a good dman back, they better their center spot, and they have the option to draft at top 4. On the other hand, Oilers get a superstar Dman and a good third line center.

Hockey wise, and i'm a habs fan, i'd do it.
But financially neither team would do it IMO.
Subban's salary is massive and Edmonton will need $ to pay its young guns.
And most of all, no way Molson let that happen. Subban has reached stardom here. the crowd completely loves him and his flamboyant style makes him the no 1 seller for this team, more than Price. + he's contributing massively to the local community and beyond.
Won't happen.

I like the way Shankar put that. Klef would be there best D probably. That gap is big but completely losing a potential number one C and dropping 5 picks isn't worth it.

I think it would have to be one of the 6 million players going the other way.

That was quite funny. Patches + Julsen for Landescog makes zero sense! First, the Habs needs a center and second, I wouldn't give Patch alone for Landescog much less with Julsen.

Galchenyuk, juulsen, 2018 1st and benn for Duchene? No way Montreal would do such a deal. not even close! I cannot see Duchene being traded for more than Galchenyuk with a prospect or a second round pick.
Colorado expects the moon for Duchene but has nothing to support their high demands.

RNH will be dumped for next to nothing (kids) . Too many players need to be singed next season.
