The leafs should keep first overall and not trade it, take matthews as he is a franchise caliber center.
Then I'm hearing rumours of Arizona trading prongers contract for lupul so I would do that in a second.
And then trade bozak and Bernier to Anaheim for a first and Clayton stoner as a cap dump
This gives Anaheim flexibility to trade Anderson as Bernier would be a backup for a year and they wouldn't have to worry about the expansion draft and it would give the leafs another bullet in the chamber and some cap relief of their own. I don't know if it would work but it's a good idea.

pronger for lupul: why would ARI want that? they get 4+ mil in cap at no actual monetary charge to the franchise. lupul is more cap (not that they really need the extra 600k or so), is a liability, and they'll actually have to pay him for the time he doesn't spend on the IR.
bozak and bernier for a 1st and stoner: doubt ANA does it even though the 1st will be around 22nd or so because they gain quite a bit of salary and neither bozak nor bernier provide great value for the money they make.

Arizona would do it because if lupul could be healthy he could be great to help mentor the young kids Arizona has compared to paying for pronger who isn't playing and i don't know if Arizona wants to pay for someone who isn't even in hockey anymore. While the leafs don't care. And yeah the Anaheim was just a thought on how the leafs could get another first, maybe a cheaper goalie like Stalock if toronto resigns him.

Since67 they don't pay Pronger. At all. He's insured simply count for cap which is why they traded for him in the first place. They have Doan, OEL, Hanzal to mentor their young guys. Is Lupul really the guy you want to mentor anyone? He sued a subsidiary of a part owner of the leafs and got in fights at practice. Like Shankar said your on the hook for his money when he's not injured. You know you aren't paying Pronger but still get his cap hit.

Idk if this is close but Anaheim needs scoring and Tampa wants young return players and Toronto needs a goalie prospect other than sparks. Not bias just Wanna know if it could work.

That's an easy no from Tampa. Theodore is inticing but Vasilevski is the top goalie prospect in the league and vital to Tampas future success. It's very much in Torontos favour they get two great young pieces for JVR and not much more. Pitt 1st isn't even guarenteed that team could miss the playoffs this year and next.
