not even close in burns trade

2.) 18 Jun 2015 04:08:40
Burns could get more and Yandles cap hit is like 2.8 so no from New York

3.) 18 Jun 2015 05:55:28
Benning has stated that he is keeping Ryan Miller and is going to trade either Jacob Markstrom or Eddie Lack away. He doesn't feel comfortable having two inexperience goalies to back stop the canucks roster. Also Ryan Miller wouldn't not equate to Brent Burns. It is going to take a lot more to acquire Burns. He scored 17G 60pts as a defenseman this year. Kevin Bieksa and Kurt Overhardt have told Canucks management that they aren't willing to waive their NTC unless they resign him to a new deal. In reality if Vancouver want to get rid of Bieksa they'd have to wait another year until they his contract expires or buy him out. I do not see they canucks resigning him to just trade him away.

Not enough for burns

5.) 18 Jun 2015 07:24:58
Yea that Burns trade is horrible.

Okay, did Winnipeg, now for Ottawa.

To Pittsburgh - Bobby Ryan
To Ottawa - Sutter, Pouliot, and 2015 1st

The Penguins are desperate to find someone to play with Malkin now that Neal is gone. Thier window to win will start closing in a couple years and the west is just getting stronger. Ryan has one year left on his contract and would possibly be happy to consider a big money extension to play with superstars rather than explore UFA. Rutherford will have cap issues but he has time to work something out. For Ottawa, they will lose Ryan to UFA so should have a chance to get what the Canucks were after for Kessler.

To Chicago - Phillips, 2015 2nd from Dallas
To Sens - Hjalmarsson

Chicago gets a great Dman for playoff hump with still 2 years on contract, and about 2 million in salary cap relief. Sens get steady Dman with lots of affordable term left. Sens D is set.

To Minnesota - Anderson
To Sens - Neiderreiter and Gustafsson

Wild have bad luck with goalies. They get one to help them compete now and develop Kuemper. Sens gamble on some scoring and get a back up with some potential

Ok, rip in!

Tunnel_rat

1.) IMO they all favor the sens, one is worse then the others but what can u ask for? Everyone has some sort of bias that's why I refrain from posting habs rumors.

2.) 17 Aug 2014 07:29:22
Think so too.
Sens get the better end of all deals.
They are not terribly one-sided, but its always a bit much going back to the sens, considering Ryan will be an UFA, Philips is like a million yrs old and Anderson did struggle with both health and play last season.

3.) Way too much for Ryan (UFA 2015)

Sutter is going to be a +40 point man and Pouliot is their future in defense

4.) Pitts/Ott trade is decent. I think that one has legs because Sutter is a good addition and Pouliot looks like a solid prospect, and the 1st will likely be pretty late next year. For the Pens, they'd get a great winger for Malkin or Crosby. Damn, with either player they'd have a runaway hit on their hands. Personal bests would happen easily for Ryan.

The other two trades are pretty damn bad tho.

5.) Oh my word that trade for Ryan is very bad and its not even the worst trade in the deal. Why would the hawks trade Hjalmarson for a guy that a lot of sens think shouldn't even be on their opening night roster and a 2nd?

6.) We don't need a centre and we don't need defensemen. We need a top 6 or a top line winger. Why would we trade what we need away for players we don't need?

7.) I'm not too sure, I think Ottawa has needs all over the place, although I think you're right about the big hole on the right side. Problem is finding a top 6 scoring winger that someone will part with for Ryan. Maybe see if a package around McArthur could get Marchand out of Boston that could work. I think if the Sens got Sutter in a Ryan deal, they could slot him in behind Turris, drop Legwand to center the 3rd line, and move Zibanejad to RW on the 1st or second line. The defence is in better shape, and the Chicago trade was the most far-fetched IMO, maybe that deal has to be sweetened to include a solid prospect (not Lazar).

8.) It's hard to trade a guy like Spezza, not get a top 6 center in return, and feel that this position is a team strength. Also Charles Xavier, I love your passion but I'd love to hear a bit more narrative to go with your critique about the Ryan trade. The devil is in the details!

9.) No from Pittsburgh, they need to stop trading the few good young assets they have for rental players IMO.no from Chicago value is not even close IMO no from Minnesota because stone cold says so

To San Jose - Dustin Byfuglien

To Jets - Brent Burns (if he waives his NTC)

Straight up, similar roles, salary and term, BB has 3 years to DB's 2 years. Just a shake up for two teams that need it.

To Oilers - Evander Kane

To Jets - Yakupov, Klefbom and a 2nd in 2015

EK doesn't want to be there, Yak needs a fresh start

To Toronto - Hutchinson + Jets 2nd in 2015

To Jets - Reimer

Tunnel_rat

1.) Reimer isn't worth that much. Maybe a 3rd at max

2.) Yakupov isn't going anywhere, not now. If you're going to post trades, please do pay attention to the things that have been happening. MacT stated that for this year Yakupov is staying at the 3rd/2nd line. And Dallas Eakins agrees. Yakupov might be traded next year. But no way this year.

3.) And Reimer is a good goaltender, but not as good for Hutchingson. 2nd round pick alone will do the job. Toronto doesn't need Reimer.

4.) Reimer will land a 2nd

5.) I'm aware of what MacT said about Yakupov, thanks, but I'm pretty sure though that Chevy wasn't dangling EK in front of him as a second line option over Benoit P when he said it. You make an obvious point, a possible trade featuring high profile players like EK and Yak as the principles will not happen in mid August. Trades like this would be, at the earliest, 20-25 games in depending on how the respective teams involved come out of the gate. And I wouldn't put too much stock into what GMs say to the media anyway, they always have to show belief in their asset in order to keep their bargaining position as strong as possible. I'm sure it is possible though that if the Oilers stumble (I hope not, I like the Oil too) but Yak is playing solid, and the Jets are looking mediocre, that a bold move is made earlier rather than wait for the trade deadline.

6.) Reimer is a 3rd at best.

7.) I tried over and over just now to make a case for NOT making the Kane trade, and I can't, but not for the reason you're thinking. It just makes zero sense. I mean, even take out the pick: Yakupov and Klefbom for Kane. Who agrees to that trade? Neither team, for their own reasons. It's an enigma, but it's also not good.

And that Reimer trade is laughable. He's not worth a 2nd and a solid G prospect. Not even close.

8.) Great response, you've summed up the banter I had with friends about this as a trade option and even why I came back to this site. Some guys said I was nuts and others thought it would just need a tweak or two, all for different reasons. I just stuck to my guns and widened the audience. In hindsight I have to admit that Nonis might have taken me on the Reimer trade.

9.) Reimer is better than reto Berra who recently got traded for a second round pick

10.) 16 Aug 2014 16:27:12
Just because Berra may was overpaid for, doesn't mean teams will overpay for Reimer automatically.
Hutchinson is a solid prospect worth at least a 3rd rd pick. So the trade is basically 2nd and good 3rd for Reimer.
One can argue whether Reimer is worth a 2nd or a 3rd or 2 4ths or whatever, but he clearly isn't worth 2nd + 3rd.

11.) Reimer is worth a second IMO but the only team that needs a goalie right now is Winnipeg.deal happens at trade deadline

12.) Draisaitl_94,

so by your logic bishop is still worth conacher? because that's what he was traded for. that's how were determining player value? come on dude, reimer is solid, not one of the best, but could start on a bunch of teams, worth a prospect and pick to a team in need of goaltending, after all, he has played his whole career in front of a lack luster toronto d core and a bunch of forwards who don't back check right? could be a superstar on a good team

13.) SJ has stated they want to get younger in goal. They need a goalie.

Reimer will probably get a 3rd.

We will see at the trade deadline.
He will need to play better than he did down the stretch to garner attention though.

14.) 18 Aug 2014 07:59:15
I stopped taking you seriously when you said "he could be a superstar on a good team"
Nothing against James Reimer. but no, he cant.
And what you're saying about "my logic" is totally not what I said.
I never compared an old trade or its value with this trade.
What you're saying is just totally outta context.

15.) No way will Reimer be a "super star".

He is good, and potentially better than Bernier, but not a super star.

16.) So at least you took me seriously until the last sentence?

super star comment was sarcasm.

but he would be a lot better than he is percieved to be by the vast majority of the leaf haters on this site if he was on a really good team. or at least any team other than the leafs.

17.) 18 Aug 2014 19:23:50
Total agreement from me. I never said he sucked and I do not bash him or the leafs in general.
Reimer is a good goalie, no question, I just don't think he's a starter, at least not on a good team. Every goalie would be better if he played in front of the Bruins/Blues/whoever instead of the Leafs, Oilers or also my Lightning (until 12/13).

18.) @draisaitl and Ovies hero IMO reimer is a starting nhl goalie.he is not elite but he's too good to play 15-20 games as a backup.i want the leafs to trade him somewhere he gets a chance to play.reimer is the only reason we went 7 games with Boston or even made the playoffs IMO and he kinda got a raw deal for it.(trade for someone better and hand him the job,no real competition)but either way reimer has one of the hottest hockey wives so he'll be fine

19.) 19 Aug 2014 06:53:05
I feel like he's somewhere in between.
Too good for 15-20 games is definitely true, but I can't see him starting 60 or 65 games somewhere.
If both could handle their roles, a 47/35 split kinda thing between Bernier and Reimer would be pretty good for Toronto IMO

and wtf, she's really hot, lol

20.) We'll said draisaitl.he needs a chance to play IMO he's earned it.140 gp 914sv% 7playoff games 923 sv% considering he's put those numbers up while playing for the leafs that's really good

I agree with Drgonzo, offering one undersized, fringe Dman and one stay at home, good with his fists #5 Dman for a #3 overall pick projected to be a 1st line player will result in Tallon saying rude things and hanging up his phone. Your middle trades could be discussed but, as you pointed out, not the JVR one.

I don't think this would happen from Carolina's side. They invested a lot of asserts, money and term to bring in brother Jordan to be the #2 centre, based in large part on Eric being there. ES is the face of the franchise and with the challenges of entertaining a southern US fan base, trading someone of that stature would require a big splash in return. Richards and a #45-50 overall won't cut it.
