Trade benefits both teams as Edmonton will have to move one of their centers to make room room for McDavid. ARZ will have more flexibility at the draft as they can select a defensemen since they've aquired a number one centre.

honestly it is a good idea for arizona to do that but edmonton would have to give up more than just rnh, oel is a top 10 d in the game and he is only getting better and yeah rnh isn't good enough to garner that type of player
maybe something on the lines of RNH, Nurse, pits 1st for OEL and Gormley
arizona is getting a low end younger 1st line C with lots of potential and a Dman to come in and replace oel in the future (who mind you won't be as good) and a 1st to balance it out while oilers get that #1D who will make a huge difference while making rooom for draisaitl and mcdavid to come in while also gettting quite a decent dprospect in gormley then that let's arizona choose hanafin at third so they can stockpile their d and not worry about the offence or #1c like strome

Yes, addresses both teams needs, but Yotes are going to land Strome this year, who will be better (already bigger) than RNH. OEL is just not replaceable in the near future. I think Oil would need to add a Defensive prospect to drop the hammer.

I like it if the Pens were a top 5 team or this trade could get maybe get them to the top 5 teams. Pens just are not close enough to Stanley to drop a cheap young player for a expensive old one.
Pens need to fix their D, and get Malkin to drop his purse and play hockey.

Josi is very underrated, maybe not as much after the season he had. If it wasn't for Weber we would see how good he really is. Anyways not saying he's worth more then Kessel , but leafs couldn't fetch much more for a Kessel - Josi trade, maybe a pick or Prospect

1.) Why would Colorado want to get rid of Stasney?
2.) Stas hasn't played up to his current contract by any stretch, he would probably get similar dollars as a UFA from a weak team that has to overpay, but if he likes colorado and wants to stay, he'll sign a new deal for less than 5 per.

4.) Well, he won't sign for less than $5 million on the open market. But Ovies point is if he wants to stay in Colorado, he will take a pay cut to stay there. Colorado is pretty frugal team
5.) ^ I think that Colorado has negotiated some good deals with their players, but I would hardly call them frugal. This is the same team that signed Paul Kariya and Teemu Selanne to big deals on July 3, 2003. Not to mention they had Rob Blake, Peter Forsberg, Joe Sakic and others to pay.
6.) 2003 was 11 years ago. Things change. Things have changed.
7.) I don't believe that ownership has changed. They will still spend big $ if they need to.
8.) ^ well they've been in the bottom 3rd in salary cap spending the last 7 years. You're arguing a bit of a vacuum, so to the extent that they have and may spend money at some point, I won't disagree (In other words - I am not trying to say that the team WILL NEVER/HAS NEVER spent $$).
But if the last couple of years has been an indication (and considering that they did not want to spend that much money on ROR), I am comfortable saying the team is not looking to spend a lot of $$.
