Colorado gets some scoring on the wing and gets either macdavid/eichel and another potentially top prospect with there own pick

mack is worth quite a lot more than a 1st, especialy this early in the season.

But if you look at the big picture here, colorado is still in rebuild and are not as close as we thought making varlamov expendable.Pickard is playing great could use a heavier load over the course of this rebuild. With edmontons pick and their own they will have two picks in the top five making this deal a home run for colorado
4.) Makes absolutely no sense for Colorado considering.

Yes the first round pick may make up for it, but MacKinnon alone is probably just as good a prospect as McDavid.
Varlamov is the deal breaker here.
5.) Pickard is the goalie of the future play him now dump varlamovs contract, and probably end up with the first and third or fourth overall picks this draft.
6.) They are giving up MacKinnon AND Varlamov.

Um why wouldn't Colorado do this deal?

If edmonton gets the first overall pick what would the team with the second or third pick give the oilers to swap spots. let's say yotes have # 2 and buffalo has #3.
1.) The idea of Edmonton getting McDavid sends shivers down my spine. They screw up every young players development and I want to see him reach max potential, not be yanked around that joke of a club until his confidence is ruined. If three years of getting fisrt overall picks didn't help them become winners then they don't deserve a player like McDavid or Eichel.
I like it but i'd keep martin for the cup run

I think toronto adds mainly because of fasth, he won a pile of games for Anaheim last year and I think his stock is perceived by fans as much lower.No goalie in the league gets edmonton into the playoffs this year.
