Edm says no. They have a load of young dmen already, no sense trading a big C like Draisaitl (who can play wing) unless it's for veteran help on the top 2D

1. As Chirp set, center depth is super important, plus Draisaitl can play wing.
2. Pretty sure Chirp knows the oilers prospects better and he's right, they have loads of D prospects. Just because their NHL D sucks/sucked, doesn't mean they have no prospects.

I agree with @Chirps comment, I don't know the oilers but what good young D prospects do they have besides Nurse, Klefbom and Reinhart?

In terms of D prospects the Oilers have that could be of Severson-quality (including offensive and defensive Dmen here: Davidson (may even make the team as a 7th Dman), Musil, Lagesson. Oesterle. Gernat (tho he's sliding), Hunt, etc. possibly others I'm forgetting off the top of my head. And that's without including their top 3 (Nurse, Reinhart, Klefbom [tho I don't really think of Klefbom as a prospect anymore, he's essentially a lock to remain with the team after how good he was last season]). Severson might be a step up on Davidson but not by a ton and also has more experience. Does that make him worth Draisaitl? Not even close. Especially if you compare the Oilers C depth to their D depth:
Draisaitl, Yakimov (awesome, but bottom-6), Roy, Moroz (not living up to his draft position). That's about it. Something like that at least. Don't see how Draisaitl for Severson makes a lick of sense at all.

That's practically giving away Skinner. They would be offered a more valuable piece by about 15 other teams than this proposed post. That's how Carolina says no.
Eller isn't anything special to be excited about, De la Rose is a so so prospect and a 2nd is meh. Replace De la Rose and the 2nd with a 1st and you get Carolina's attention.
If Perron can get a 1st and Klinkhammer. Than Skinner can get at least that (Eller and a 1st).

@yep I don't really agree with you when you say the Islanders say no. That trade could be an overpayment by the Leafs it were to happen, since both Okposo and Grabner are free agents next summer. But the only way the Isles would trade Okposo is if they knew early on that he did not want to resign with the team (I don't know why he wouldn't want to tho). Plus Grabner is pretty equal to that 3rd round pick if it's conditional that he plays a certain amount of games (e.g 65). That would leave Okposo (1y left) for Kadri (1y left, RFA) and Gardiner (4y left). Toronto is giving the Islanders a steal in both quantity and quality since Kadri has the ability to be a top line/2nd line centre, and Gardiner has shown glimpses of being a top 4 defensemen at a reasonable price for one. If I'm Toronto I am asking for a conditional first round pick from NYI. The condition being that if Okposo signs with the team before draft day 2016 then it becomes a 2nd round pick, if not it remains a first.

I don't think Kadri OR Gardiner are worth thier contracts. and as you point out that Okposo is going to be a free agent well so is Kadri. IF Okposo was up for trade the Isles would get better offers as far as i'm concerned, those two peices from TO aren't exciting one bit for a very valuable player in Okposo. Besides, TO is rebuilding, wtf are you going to do with Okposo for the next 4+ years while rebuilding? He won't re sign there, would be an idiot for the time being if he did anyways. Makes no sense.

Hahaha kadri a number 1 center, if he was then why has Toronto been searching for a number center forever. Kadri brings no value to the isles. They already are strong at center and playing centers on the wings. Okposo is a key piece to the team as he is a true top line winger, and JT needs him. Gardiner is trash, get over him, he at best will be no more than a 3rd pairing dman,
By the way Okposo is more valuable then JVR, look at their age and point totals, Okposo is 1 year older with 60 more points in the same amount of games played.

Actually Okposo has 44 more games played then JVR, Okposo does have 57 more points but if JVR did play the same amount of games he would probably only be around 25 points behind Okposo. By the way Okposo does get to play with this centre, John Tavares.

Canucks are not looking like a great time for the upcoming season, if anything they took a step back. Also trade Vrbata @ Trade deadline and miller if you can find any takers. Need a top 10 pick (preferably top 5) & draft best Defenceman or Winger available.
