2.) Goleafsgo trade looks pretty close to me, Buffalo needs to add to the leaffan trade. What do other people think of the trades?
3.) I think Kessel is the type of player Chicago, LA, Boston etc need. Pure goal scorer. Nothing else. A team like Buffalo - who are re-building - might as well get players with defensive responsibility to build around. Kessel isn't the kind of player you build around if you're BUF. He's the kind of player you add when you're ready to win.
4.) In a radio interview Tim Murray essentially said the days of bottom feeding are over. Starting next year, they will either be a late lottery pick (14 was the number he stated) or be in the playoffs. If that is how he feels, Kessel could definitely fit into the plans. Two firsts and Makarov is a bargain for Kessel.
5.) Sbr2017 - you're smoking some great stuff if you think a rebuilding team giving up 2 firsts and a prospect for a 1-dimensional player is a bargain.
Buf would be better off keeping their players, drafting well and signing an offensive threat as a Free Agent in a few years when they are back in the playoffs.
Remember - just because burke gave up 2 firsts and a 2nd for Kessel doesn't mean that's a fair price to ask. Most leaf fans still hate the idea of what they gave up for someone who gets lost once he's in his own end.
IMO that is good trade for both teams and for Datsyuk. DET gets its right handed Dman, and prospects, WAS gets a top center and Pavel gets a shot at a Cup.
Drgonzo, I think every objection you have to SBR 2017 post he agrees with you. Kane has a higher upside but has not outperformed the midget Ennis, so why trade 3 assets for an underperforming "potential franchise" player.
Tyler Myers, Drew Stafford & Jhonas Enroth to WPG for Evander Kane, 2nd & 3rd 2015 looks fairly even.
Tyler Myers < Evander Kane
Drew Stafford > 2nd
Jhonas Enroth > 3rd
Maybe Kane could play center for BUF.
If Murray was willing to make this trade he would be my friend forever:
Marcus Foligno, Christian Isackson & Weber for David Clarkson, Peter Holland, Cody Franson & round 3 pick 2016. The trade lowers the team cap by $5,000,000 and Foligno had the better season than Clarkson, he can play center as well as LW. Essentially BUF is trading Foligno and Weber for Franson & 3rd.
BUF trades Torrey Mitchell to TML for 3rd 2015, 2nd 2016 & David Clarkson. TML makes this trade to dump Clarkson salary, thank you very much. SBR makes this trade to get some grit (after loosing Scott), veteran leadership & picks to help build the team.
