Winnipeg Trades
Trouba

Buffalo trades
Kulikov
2018 1st

This gives the Jets an experienced top 4 left handed physical D-man. Buffalo has the cap to sign Trouba.
Who needs to add?

Buffalo has Risto and Bogosian on the right side already.

Boston trades Loui Eriksson & 2nd to Arizona for Keith Yandle

gretskyghost

1.) Not enough. Going to cost a higher scoring higher up scoring forward. Not Eriksson

2.) @JF12 you are correct, somehow I thought Yandle was a rental, but of course he is not. With out Cap Geek life is harder, Keith's contract ends next year. Boston would have to give up more.

Vermette and Boedker are UFA's at the end of the year.

Edmonton trades Nail Yakupov, Oscar Klefbom & Nikita Nikitin
Buffalo trades Cody Hodgson (retain 25%), Marcus Foligno, Brian Flynn, Mike Weber & Chad Ruhwedel (NHL ready, Amerks top score d-man)
Mike Weber > Nikita Nikitin
Chad Ruhwedel < Oscar Klefbom
Brian Flynn, Marcus Foligno & Cody Hodgson < Nail Yakupov
Edmonton dumps Nikitin and his salary, replaces Perron at LW, gets its a #2 Center, a good bottom 6 forward, a stay at home d-man, and a good defensive prospect.
Buffalo gets a Russian d-man to play with Zaderov, a top 6 forward and a good defensive prospect

1.) I wonder if Murray would give up that much for two under performing Russians who could defect to Russia at end of their contracts. IMO the talent exchange is close and the Sabres are offering what EDM needs, IDK if Murray and MacTavish would pull the trigger.

2.) There will be no Russians heading home to play hockey. With the poor economy in Russia and the KHL going under why would anyone return there if they want to play hockey for a living? This is a good trade that addresses a need for both teams. I would say Oilers would want to make this move after seeing where Klefbom is development wise at season's end.

3.) Quantity doesn't equal quality , Edmonton declines.

4.) @Steamer, I value your insiteful comments, but I do not see a great deal of quality from Edmonton. Nail has scored 64 pts in 152 gms, Marcus has 59 in 163. Nikiton scores (71/232) more than Weber (45/274), but Nikita's salary is nearly triple of Mike's & Weber is very physical. Klefbom is a better prospect than Ruhwedel, but Hodgson has proven (when Nolen is not his coach) to be a #2 center, and Flynn is a good bottom 6 forward (he has the lowest +/- among all Sabres who have played 30 or more games). I seriously doubt Murray would make that offer, I believe MacTavish would take it because it fills 4 of Edmonton's needs.

I guess speaks to the weakness of LAK farm system. Michael Mersch, Kevin Gravel and Adrian Kempe are 3 of LAK top 5 prospects.

@thejazz, Yak digressed from the path of success. I still am laughing at myself. Thanks for pointing it out to me. It is too funny.

When I saw the list of players from BOS, I assumed the trade was for Hall & Yakupov. I has to laugh when I realized it was was Eberle & Yakupov.

@stickboi, I agree with your premiss that trading the 1st makes sense for Edmonton, but not for the selected assets, starting with Reimer. Both Fasth and Scrivens were much better before they played for EDM, what indication is there that Reimer will not follow the same pattern. I would think TML would need to trade Kadri, Franson, Phaneuf, Nylander and 2-1st round picks to get the 1st overall. That leaves TML top line intact with McDavid probably having enough talent to make and average player look like an all star (a la Crosby and Thornton). Look what Quebec got for Lindros, and McDavid is projected to be even better. Unfortunately, TML do not have an exceptionally talented prospect pool and may not want to trade that many roster players, so they may be the wrong trading partner.
