EDM trades Talor Hall to BUF for Tyler Myers, Cody Hodgson, Mark Pysyk, Joel Armia & Chad Ruhwedel. Is this a fair trade? If not who needs to add?

gretzkyghost

1.) Why is this unbelievable? Who needs to add?

2.) Buffalo says no. they value Myers too much and wouldn't part ways with that many young pieces to get one player.

3.) Hall for Myers and Hodgson?

4.) I could see Murray trading for Hall, then resigning Stewart, Stafford & Neuvirth, signing UFA Niemi and 2 of Green, Franson or Ehrhoff, trade Ennis for Mike Richards:
Hall-McDavid-Stafford
Moulson-Reinhart-Stewart
Foligno-Girgenson-Gionta
Deslauriers-Richards-McCormick

Gorges-Ristolainen
Green or Franson or Ehrhoff
Zaderov-Weber

Niemi/Neuvirth or Enroth

Key ingredient, FIRE Nolan, HIRE Mick Babcock, instant playoff team. BTW the cap works.

5.) Hall is good but that is a huge, huge overpay for 1 player. EDM really has to add. Maybe Marincin, another B prospect and a mid rnd pick.

6.) That would be a filthy Buffalo line up, they would have a cup in 5 years.

I am re-posting a trade because it will time out today.

To Montreal Taylor Hall
To Edmonton Alex Galchenyuk

Hall after 3 years, Galchenyuk up to the all star break

Galchenyuk 158 34 55 89 +8
Hall 171 65 80 145 -7

Yup Galchenyuk is FAR better. Hall is only 2 years older than Galchenyuk, not enough to even comment about age difference.

Career Hall and Pacioretty
Pacioretty 364 128 123 251
Hall 287 103 151 254

So many remarkable comments.  Just saying what would Hall stats look like if he had Subban & Markov on defense and Price in the nets?  IMO he would have more points and a better +/-.  Pacioretty better than Hall.  OK you are right!  It is so obvious how could I have missed it.

gretzkyghost

1.) It's a lot easier for a winger to develop then a center. That's my 2 cents.

2.) Ya because price helped a lot of habs to get more points this season.

3.) Actually CD1 when you know there an eraser in net to wipe out your mistakes, it does allow the offense to take more chances, but my comment was more in reference to the +/- stat.

4.) What's your point?

5.) @benn14, who are you asking?

6.) @gretzkyghost you. I don't get why you posted this?

7.) @Benn because I think the trade makes both teams better. MTL still has 3 centers and EDM needs a center. The bonus would be if Yakopuv would return to his rockie level or better.

8.) The logistics don't work. Pacioretty is our #1 Lw. He earned that

9.) I think centers hold more value then wingers. They have to be able to distribute to get the puck to their wingers, they have to have a strong 2 way game on the back check, they have to be able to win faceoffs to keep puck possession, I think they just have all around more responsibility.

Not saying wingers like hall aren't valuable because they are but if you look at all the past cup winners they have had a superstar center that eats up a lot of minutes and plays an all around strong game. Crosby/ Malkin, Toews, Kopitar, Zetterberg, Bergeron/ Krejci just to name a few. For how young Galchenyuk is he's shown a lot of potential so I can't see montreal trading him.

Teams seem more willing to trade wingers as RNH probably won't be traded instead they are looking to trade Eberle and Hall. Same with the leafs if Kessel was a center there is no way they talk about trading him.

10.) 23 Jan 2015 00:44:00
i don't understand this at all?

are you proposing a hall for paccioretty swap I don't see the point in MTL doing it, if that's what you're prosposing. if you're saying a galchenyuk for hall trade then you wayyy for off. maybe galchenyuk + 1st + fucale.

11.) Shankar I have to desagree galchenyuk Will be a much more complete player in the years too come compare too hall who is all offense! Plus we got pacioretty so I rather have a rw instead of hall but not for galchenyuk!

12.) Right now, you couldn't get Hall for Galchenyuk, forget that. Maybe if Galchenyuk finally breaks out, then it turns. But right now. The Oilers would be dumb to trade Hall for Galchenyuk straight up.

13.) Thanks, Hall has proven himself to be a top 10 performer. Most of the comments seem to reject the trade because Gacheyuk has proven he COULD BE a top 10 performer. I will not post again.

14.) @gretzkyghost
i think the problem is that hall has more value now their is no question about that but montreal drafted galchenyuk and they hold more value in him then anyone else would. They are also one of the better teams in the east and galchenyuk is a big part of that so why go make a blockbuster trade now. It wouldn't make much sense for them considering he is their number one center of the future.

15.) Big No from Habs

To Montreal Taylor Hall
To Edmonton Alex Galchenyuk
Montreal gets a top LW, Edmonton gets a top center who may revive Yakupov.

gretzkyghost

1.) Mtl adds in terms of value but I don't think both teams would want to take the risk of swaping these players

2.) Revive Yakupov? someone needs to revive Hall!

3.) Hall has shown that he has been at a point per game pace before. The question is believable and unbelievable. I would have to go unbelievable. I say this because no one values galchenyuk as highly as Marc Bergevin. Don't see him trading his #1 center for years to come for hall. And I don't see Edmonton doing this endless montreal adds.

4.) Never. From a habs fan

5.) Add subban

6.) I beleive that hall is more offensively right now but in a few years to come I think Galchenyuk will be a point per game player and right now he is more defensively responsible

7.) Thanks for all of the comments. Is the trade fair? Who needs to add? This is one of the trades where GM put their necks on the line, but probably both would make their teams better. Hall is much better than any LW currently playing for Montreal, and Galchenyuk is much better than any Center currently playing for Edmonton. Hall is only 2 years older and for his 5 year career has averaged almost a point a game.

8.) Hall bether then any other lw of habs? Are u crazy I rather have pacioretty who is a more complete player then hall who is only offense! No way Montréal make that deal galchenyuk is 20 and is going to be a bether player then hall

9.) Hall is by far the better player right now compared to Galchenyuk , Montreal would have to add.

Edmonton trades Nail Yakupov to Winnipeg for Evander Kane

gretzkyghost

1.) No from Winnipeg

Edmonton trades Yakupov to Buffalo for Gigorenko and second 2016

gretzkyghost

1.) No from Buffalo

2.) Maybe a prospect instead of a 2nd, but I would take that trade. Grigorenko and Yakupov were drafted in the same year and only Yak looks like he could play in the NHL.

The first time I posted this list the voting was overwhelming believable. What is different?

I agree BUF needs to add, but not much & EDM Cannot scout Juniors.

IMO the Myers for O'Reily trade rumors are unfounded. With McEichel joining Reinhart next season and Grigorenko just behind Girgensons, which line will O'Reiley center?
