Sabres trade Chris Stewart & Anthony Florentino to MTL for Tomas Plekanec & Artturi Lehkonen
1.) Why would Montreal give up the better player and prospect?
2.) Chris Stewart > Tomas Plekanec

MTL trade David Desharnais (retain 50%) to PHI for Vincent Lecavalier & Robert Hagg
1.) Desharnais has a decent contract but Lecavilalier on the other hand has a aweful contract. You would have to retain 50% of Lecavilalier's contract for this to work but even the Montreal would decline
2.) No chance! Especially with the retained salary. That would push Mtl way over the cap. I'd take DD over Vinny. Vinny is getting old.
3.) Plekanec for Lecavalier is fair

6.) Vinny is over the hill. It was between Mtl and Philly and Mtl went only to 3 years at 4M.
Philly gave him a stupid ridiculous contract. Now they cannot give Vinny away even if they are willing to retain half the contract.
Vinny had a 1M bonus due July 1st. Philly paid him. You think he would be easier to move? Nope. No one wants him.

DETs trade Stephen Weiss to EDM for Bogdan Yakimov. DET dumps salary, EDM gets 2nd line C for a prospect.
1.) Yakimov is the prototypical player that the Oilers have wanted -- and even lacking -- in their system for years. They aren't about to trade him for a center on the down-slope.
2.) 0 cap space for Schultz then.
3.) Dude right now. Bogdan Yakimov is a better option for the Oilers. Weiss hasn't played a full season in 2 years. At least give Edmonton a 2nd round pick AT LEAST.
Two prospects that are not part of the near future for a first overall who at one time played with Galchenyuk seems to be a reasonable price.
SBR trades Stewart (retain 50%) and Weber to MTL for Beaulieu. Weber competes for the last D-man spot, Stewart plays on the top line.
I think Murray would make the Galchenyuk trade. Among Reinhart, Gregorenko and Galchenyuk it would give the SBR three centers to choice for their top 2 and give SBR 3 Russians on their team. Finally, Nathan Beaulieu could take Myers spot on defense.
IMO the 1st trade is close but BUF does not need a GK, here is a counter for fairly similar talent: BUF trades Tyler Myers & Torrey Mitchell to MTL for 1st & Jacob De La Rose
The 2nd trade really favors the SBR, does this even it a bit? Tyler Myers, Brycen Martin & Eric Cornel for Alex Galchenyuk, Nathan Beaulieu & 4th
