Ryan Johansen rumours are heating up! Marc Bergevin will make the call.

To Columbus Blue Jackets:
C - Lars Eller
D - Jarred Tinordi
LW/C - Jacob De La Rose
1st Round Pick (2016)
2nd Round Pick (2017)

To Montreal Canadiens:
C - Ryan Johansen
C - Michael Chaput

Thoughts?

what akes you think CBJ will want that at all?

2.) 17 Dec 2015 20:03:19
Horrible for the Jackets. Johansen is a #1C. They're not going to give him away for scraps. Impact player (1/2C or top-2 dman), solid prospect, 1st round pick is a likely package to start with.

3.) 17 Dec 2015 20:04:53
Scherbak would be in there 100%.

4.) 18 Dec 2015 17:45:17
More like

MTR: Nikita Scherbak, Nathan Bealieau, Alex Galchenyuk, Tom Gilbert, 2016 1st and 2017 4th

CBJ: Ryan Johansen, Cam Atkinson, Dalton Prout and 2017 3rd.

I have to make a slight change to my recent Okposo post from yesterday. Given the signing of Jarred Tinordi today (1yr/850k - 2-way contract), there's little chance they trade him and it would appear that he gets one final opportunity in Montreal this season. With that said, Isles and Habs could still entertain an Okposo trade.

To Montreal Canadiens:
RW - Kyle Okposo
G - Kevin Poulin

To New York Islanders:
D - Alexei Emelin
G - Zachary Fucale
1st Round Pick - (2016)

Very fair return for Isles. Isles take on 1.3 mill in cap hit.

D-man pairings for both teams are follows:

Montreal Canadiens:
Subban - Markov
Petry - Beaulieu
Gilbert - Pateryn
(Barberio) - (Tinordi)

New York Islanders:
Boychuk - Hamonic
Hickey - Emelin
De Haan - Leddy
(Strait) - (UFA D-man)

Thoughts?

In what world does emelin bump nick leddy hahah emelin is horrible while leddy is top 4 emelin is a 6/7 defensemen

2.) 16 Jul 2015 12:57:34
If that is what Okposo is worth does that make Gallagher worth a 4th

3.) 17 Jul 2015 02:55:17
too much for Okposo, make it a 2nd rounder

15 Jul 2015 00:28:06
I heard rumblings of Okposo departing Long Island last year. Curious if still the case given the fact that Isles already have plenty of forwards for next year. They could use an injection of defense and prospect goaltending for the future.

Consider this trade in the upcoming weeks:

To Montreal Canadiens:
RW - Kyle Okposo
D - Brian Strait
G - Kevin Poulin

To New York Islanders:
D - Alexei Emelin
D - Jarred Tinordi
G - Zachary Fucale
2nd Round Pick - 2016

Montreal needs goal scoring and better PP. For the habs, they get a perfectly priced, top-6 forward in Okposo. With the free agent market dried up in top 6 forwards (excluding maybe Semin), trade market may be the way to go. Habs don't need Fucale with Price in nets for many years to come. Isles desperately do. Montreal-native Kevin Poulin has been a bust in recent years so AHL he goes with Mike Condon for development in Hamilton.

For all you Emelin-haters out there, he has been a top 4 D-man in Montreal for the last 3 seasons. He will get plenty of ice time with the Isles. Tinordi hasn't worked out well in Montreal, however, Isles are cryin for 7th d-man with NHL experience. Brian Strait would end up in the 3rd line pairing next to Gilbert with slightly more games played than Pateryn and Barberio.

As for the salary cap, the Isles would take on a little more than 1 mil in cap hit. Enter the 2nd round pick (2016) for modest compensation. Negligable for the Isles who are well below the cap ceiling.

D-pairing for both teams after the deal:

Montreal Canadiens:
Subban - Markov
Petry - Beaulieu
Gilbert - Strait
(Pateryn) - (Barberio)

New York Islanders:
Boychuk - Hamonic
Leddy - Emelin
De Haan - Hickey
(Tinordi) - (UFA d-man)

Thoughts?

1.) 15 Jul 2015 12:37:15
Why would we want Poulin?

2.) 15 Jul 2015 13:36:40
Okposo could get better quality then that. Not saying it's awful.

3.) 15 Jul 2015 14:05:11
Starit=Tinordi
Poulin=Fucale
Okposo> Emelin, 2nd

If you want Okposo and giving them young dmen, you first need good young dmen with top 4 potential

4.) 15 Jul 2015 14:30:44
yes emelin has been a top 4 dman on Montreal. but that's montreal, they don't have much better. Not sayin Dallas or Toronto d is any better, but on NYI, he may be playin bottom 2 considerin De Haan, Hamonic, Boychuk and Leddy

5.) 15 Jul 2015 15:06:03
Of all the posts I've read of late, this one makes the most sense - well thought out. Contrary to opinions of others, the value placed on Okposo is correct. I hate giving up Tinordi, but he needs a change of scenery. I will be surprised if he isn't on the move soon-ish.

6.) 15 Jul 2015 15:27:14
Pretty good post, I would do it, maybe habs addd a player like carr or a later pick, but overall good

7.) 18 Jul 2015 15:28:28
I would take off poulin and strait as the habs need to make space for pateryn as their 6th defenseman and for barberio as their 7th, and they just signed eddie pasquale to play in St-Johns. Maybe replace poulin and strait with a 5th round pick so that the deal is pretty fair

I have a few trades that I think make a bit of sense. Give me your thoughts.

Trade 1

To Detroit:
D - Keith Yandle

To New York Rangers:
C - Anthony Mantha
1st Round Pick (2016)

Rangers fill two big needs; prospect fwd and a draft pick. Detroit gets a terrific d-man at a perfect price (2.8 mil cap hit). Not bad.

Trade 2

To Buffalo
G - Eddie Lack

To Vancouver
C - Mikhail Grigorenko

Sabres get a solid tandem in nets (Lack/Johnson). Canucks get a young centreman to bring some life in this old team. Personally, Grig's will be in Europe by 2017.

Trade 3 (Blockbuster!)

To Edmonton:
G - Cameron Talbot
LW - Carl Hagelin

To New York Rangers:
1st Round Pick - 2015 (16th overall)
RW - Matt Fraser
D - Martin Marincin
LW - Matt Hendricks

Ton of sense for both teams. Oilers get the next Ben Bishop and let's face it, Rangers can survive with Lundqvist/Dan Ellis tandem since Ellis' contract would be 800k/1yr. NYR's can't afford Hagelin. Period. Enter Hendricks on the 3rd/4th line and Fraser gets a chance on a full time gig. Rangers need a 1st Round pick and a 7th d-man. Yandle's gone.

Trade 4

To Ottawa:
Michael Del Zotto
3rd Round Pick - 2015 (70th overall pick)

To Philadelphia:
G - Robin lehner
RW - Chris Neil
C - Shane Prince

Flyers have no cap space for Del Zotto. Fair price for Lehner. Although I could see the arguement for Flyers 2nd round pick. 1st round pick would be laughable.

Trade 5

To Los Angeles:
RW - Phil Kessel

To Toronto:
C - Mike Richards
LW - Andy Andreoff
1st Round Pick - 2015 (13th overall pick)

Kings are in the market for Kessel. They should have little trouble staying below the cap since they will be getting younger on defense (Manchester Monarchs d-core). Leafs don't need to blow it up, they need a bit more leadership. Enter Mike Richards. Andy Andreoff is a solid prospect.

Trade 6

To Arizona:
RW - Tyler Biggs
1st Rd Pick - 2015 (13th overall) From LA
1st Round Pick - 2015 (24th overall) From NASH

To Toronto:
1st Rd Pick - 2015 (3rd overall)

Leafs need both Hannifin & Strome. Now they get it.

Trade 7 (Blockbuster!!!)

To San Jose:
G - Corey Crawford
LW - Patrick Sharp

To Chicago:
D - Brendan Dillon
C - Melker Karlsson
RW - Barclay Goodrow
G - Troy Grosenick

Hawks are fine without Crawford. Raanta/Darling/Grosenick can hold the fort next year. This trade will give the Hawks enough money for Saad/Oduya/Richards. With Dillon in the mix, Hawks D-men are strong. San Jose pulls a Niemi and pick up a great Hawks goalie after a Cup win. This deal will spring the Sharks into the playoffs next year.

Last Trade (No blockbuster)

To Philadelphia:
RW - PA Parenteau
LW - Christian Thomas
LW - Eric Tangradi

To Montreal:
Vincent Lecavalier
3rd Round Pick - 2015 (90th overall pick)

Hear me out. Flyers need the cap space to sign Voracek long term next year. Parenteau's contract is only one year. Lecavalier is 3 years, which is why the habs are awarded a draft pick for taking the risk of this contract. This deal benefits both teams though. Lecavalier will be a fan favorite in MTL and reach 1000 pts during this contract.

Give me your thoughts?

1.) 16 Jun 2015 07:52:27
Really good post. My only gripe would be I feel Chicago could get more valuable assets in return for Sharp/Crawford but I also doubt they move Crawford considering the dominance they have shown with him in net.

2.) 16 Jun 2015 08:41:08
Not even close for 3rd overall.

3.) 16 Jun 2015 11:34:22
How does Yandle get that but Kessel only get a cap dump, no name prospect and a 1st.

4.) 16 Jun 2015 11:59:15
Trade 6 is laughable.

5.) 16 Jun 2015 13:24:35
LOL you're not getting Lehner for that. I appreciate the Neil aspect but Prince is ready for the jump.

Plus OTT has 8 D on 1 ways right now already. Why would they add this?

6.) 16 Jun 2015 15:13:53
Montreal does not want that old slow lecavalier and his contract they need to sign players also

7.) 16 Jun 2015 19:33:25
if edm trades marincin without getting a defensemen back that's better then edms defenscore will be even worse which is hard to believe

8.) 16 Jun 2015 20:31:41
I think Detroit trading Mantha and a first would be used to get a Top 4 RH D-man. Yandle is not it. Not saying Yandle isn't good but I think Detroit will try for other D-men first.

Getting Mantha in a Yandle deal is something I am not sure would happen.

Other D-men Detroit will try: Byflugien, Shattenkirk, Seabrook

9.) 16 Jun 2015 22:55:46
Montreal wouldn't touch Lecavalier with a ten foot pole

10.) 17 Jun 2015 00:20:14
Everything you read suggests the top-3 could be franchise players and the top-5 could all themselves be first overall picks in other draft years. Yet the leafs, in countless proposals on this board, are moving up to the top 5 for picks and scraps. Biggs? Are you kidding? That's the mighty cog that gets you into the top-3? What an absolute joke. Even your x-box would laugh at you if you tried a trade like that.

11.) 18 Jun 2015 06:50:31
The Biggs and couple mid to late 1sts is the biggest joke on the site lol

16 Jun 2015 02:05:37
To Columbus:

D - Alexei Emelin
D - Jarred Tinordi
LW - Daniel Carr

To Montreal:

D - Kevin Connauton
LW - Kerby Rychel
C - Michael Chaput

CLB picks up a top 4 d-man and a prospect d-man, something CLB needs. Habs save 3 mill in cap space and picks up a PP d-man. Rychel gets a chance to play in NHL since CLB have too many fwd prospects. Thoughts?

1.) 16 Jun 2015 19:41:19
Emelin is not top 4 lmao

Please from one habs fan to another . don't trade fucale or pateryn. Period.

You can get Rychel for 2 prospect d-men easily. Maybe darren dietz and dalton thrower for rychel. CLB is cryin for prospect d-men. Keep in mind Rychel already has concussion concerns. Cheers

Unbelievable. The last thing the Habs need is Kane. Period.
Emelin is a joy in the back-end with his hard hitting game. What a loss this would be.

A lot of quality young talent going to Buffalo for Myers. Don't see Detroit coughin up that much youth for one player. This one favours Buffalo and looks a tad unbelievable.
