Time for the Oilers to rebuild their Defence.
Keep; Fayne and Marincine . and of course Ference isn't going anywhere, cause for some reason is special to the team, so he can stay but limited ice time and is maybe the #7 guy.
Trades; (just a base line, some pick might need to be added)
Schultz and Perron to Arizona for OEL and Boedker
Petry and Purcell to L.A. for Clifford and Voynov
Nikitin ($2 million retained) to any team for 3rdp 2015
Lander, Joensuu and 3rdp 2015 to St, Louis for Berglund
Arco, Gernat/Pitlick and 2rdp 2015 to Carolina for Sekera and Nash
1.) Doubt it

If you'd add all picks that would be necessary to make these deals happen, Oilers wouldn't welcome a single new draftee to Alberta in the next few years.
3.) Arizona would laugh at that trade Edm would have to add huge and I can't see the Blues doing that trade either as they do not need Edmonton's spare parts. Over value on Edmonton part on these trades

7.) I don't really see any of these trades working. Also, pretty sure Voynov is suspended, so that wouldn't work.
8.) Nope. Schultz and Perron would end up being just for Boedker - if you want just OEL you'd have to give at least twice that - and LA, while they would love to do that, I don't think they don't have the cap room. You could probably get more for Nikitin if you trade him to a team that's hurting for Dmen like Boston is.
9.) That Arizona trade though. Add Eberle and they will listen. That trade is so bad for Arizona.

voynov is suspended so i'm almost certain he can't be traded, but that wouldn't get him anyways

Voynov is a chance. He is not playing this season.
Sekera is very valuable for Carolina.
Why get Nash if we traded him already? If you didn't know we selected him in the 1st round and traded him to Carolina for a 2nd round pick (Marincin)
IMO
The first step to changing the Oilers defense is: Getting rid of Nikitin and Ference. Both handle the puck poorly, both play defense poorly.
And you also traded our wingers. So we need to bring up 2 wingers from the AHL.
That for one ain't making our team better.
Ugh, how many times. Berglund is NOT getting traded. Key player for the blues.

You screwed your own team.
2015 1st is too valuable to give up.
2.) Take out Emelin and Perron and i'm still not sure MTL would agree. i'm an Oilers fan and like Klefbom, and the 2015 1st will be high (unfortunately), but the Habs are a "win now" team. They aren't looking to trade growing players for prospects and picks.
3.) No way Habs will trade Gally for that.

1.) Edmonton has to add. Not much IMO.
2.) EDM has to add a more substantial piece. A healthy J.Staal alone would likely cost more than Purcell and Petry. and I don't even think Carolina would trade Sekera for Petry straight up.
3.) In no way does edm have to add.
They get a likely better dman (Sekera > Petry, but not by much) and they get a 2nd/3rd line C (better than rushing Draisailt), but the guy is injured all the time and on a CRAZY contract.
At the very least, this is a fair trade. IMO, the Canes actually add a mid pick to warrant taking on an awful contract. Cmon, you guys, this isn't rocket science.

IMO the Oilers would have to over pay to get Johansen, but I would do it. I would even add another prospect to get it done.
Imagine having RNH and Johansen as your 1-2 punch. Then have Draisaitl/Lander and Gordon for the 3-4 spots.
Also they would have to trade Petry for picks because they wouldn't have the cap room to trade for more players. You only trade away NHL players when you don't have room for them. And the Petry trade is only if the other trades happen.
Well like u said . he isn't really a 2nd line guy .
IMO Petry would be a very good return and Lander could fit into their #3 or #4 slot.
But if u need more, guess the Oilers could throw in a late pick . 5rdp.

Really? You need to trade good players to get good players. And ROR is a young player who is good NOW and that would fill a big hole the Oilers have.
So yes I would trade Yakupov for ROR in a heart beat.
As an Oilers fan, I like the first 2 trades but pass on the MTL trade.
Eller and the Oilers would never fit together . remember he called them a jr. team. But they could trade a pick for him and then send him down to the minors . pay back . lol!
