Ottawa: Cody Ceci, Curtis Lazar, 2017 1st

Colorado: Gabriel Landeskog

Ottawa gets a forward that can slot in nicely in their top 6, allows Dzingel time to develop and let's them be less reliant on Bobby Ryan. Also makes them more physical.

Colorado gets a puck moving defenceman who is young, and will be a solid addition to their lineup after the rebuild, takes on Lazar as a reclamation and the pick allows them to focus on rebuilding their roster.

sens1

1.) 03 Jan 2017 05:47:18
That's interesting.

2.) 03 Jan 2017 06:31:07
Thats pretty good. but is it to much.? 1st round picks are extremely valuable. although its never a guarantee.
I don't get to see Colorado to much, but is Landeskog maybe jus a bit overrated.? . I honestly don't know.? Hoping someone could give me a fair comparison of a more established star.

3.) 03 Jan 2017 07:33:30
Really good pieces moving forward but I'd think Colorado would want more for their captain

4.) 03 Jan 2017 12:31:03
Yea Landy is overrated. he's good but not consistent. Has 2 good games out of three. Some night he's trying best player on the ice some night you didn't even realize he was playing. I think under coach Boucher he could be more consistent because Boucher doesn't mess around and is really good with his players and demands a lot from them.

Saw this trade on twitter:

Toronto Trades: 2016 1st (1st)
Arizona Trades: Domi/ Dvorak 2016 1st (7th) 2016 1st (20th)

Thought it was a pretty good start may take some other additions. Then:

Toronto Trades: 2016 1st (7th) 2016 1st (20th), maybe another asset.
Edmonton Trades: 2016 1st (4th)

Then only if they are allowed to talk about an extension:
Edmonton Trades: 2016 1st (20th), Jordan Eberle
St Louis Trades: Kevin Shattenkirk

Toronto- trades the 1st overall and ends up with two great young players one from arizona and whoever they draft 4th overall. Basically get Domi or Dvorack for moving back 3 spots.

Arizona- Give up a lot to be able to draft Matthews, and maybe need to sign some experienced UFA dmen (Yandle, Demers, Goligoski)

Edmonton- moves down to a better spot to draft a high end prospect dman and then gives up an asset to acquire a dman in his prime, who's team will be shopping him as they are against cap.

St Louis- get a really good return for Shattenkirk.

sens1

1.) 16 Jun 2016 04:33:26
Oilers aren't trading 4th for more picks, and only picks.

2.) 16 Jun 2016 05:34:17
It's looking more and more like Oilers keep the 4th overall. Unless they get a huge offer they can't turn down. And two more picks for that pick isn't the offer they would take. Dream on.

3.) 16 Jun 2016 13:31:54
Guys, let me be the one to hand out the daily: "Worst trade of the day" award. And the days barely begun. Guaranteed this beauty keeps the award all day.

Oilers aren't trading the 4th overall to get two later picks in the round.

4.) 16 Jun 2016 15:09:32
Blues have zero interest in an overpayed one way player in eberle.

25 Apr 2016 20:13:13
To Carolina: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, 2017 1st

To Edmonton: Justin Faulk, 2016 2nd.

sens1

1.) 25 Apr 2016 21:36:56
Love it as an Oilers fan.

2.) 25 Apr 2016 22:22:09
Make the picks both teams 2016 1st? I don't know I think the Oil would have to give up a bit more.

3.) 25 Apr 2016 22:38:49
My bad, did not see that it was a second coming back. I thought it was a first as well.

4.) 26 Apr 2016 03:00:15
Justin Faulk is a stud I'd rather hold onto him or make it 2016 1st.

03 Apr 2016 16:24:45
If Edmonton Picks First Overall

To Winnipeg- 2016 1st, Benoit Pouliot

To Edmonton- 2016 1st, Jacob Trouba.

sens1

1.) 03 Apr 2016 17:11:15
So the 1st overall and a 29 year old mediocre player.

For the 2nd - 5th. And a good young dman. Winnipeg passes not worth giving up trouba. And a great pick for Mathews.

2.) 04 Apr 2016 01:24:17
I would say yes in a heart beat if I was Winnipeg, Mathews will be an absolute stud.

3.) 04 Apr 2016 01:54:25
Winnipeg is going to have no money to resign Trouba.

4.) 04 Apr 2016 06:11:08
No from edm.

5.) 04 Apr 2016 20:41:34
Honestly, if edm gets 1st overall I want them to trade it. I don't even care what for. I'd do this trade in a heart beat. All that matters to me is that they don't draft Matthews. Not because he won't be exceptional (he will) but because the last thing they need is another forward. Trade it for John Scott, I don't give a sh**, just don't draft 1st overall again.

08 Mar 2016 14:52:43
If St Louis loses in the first round again.

To St Louis: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Griffin Reinhart, 2016 2nd

To Edmonton: Kevin Shattenkirk

Edmonton get's their Top 4 Dman, St Louis gets some really solid young prospects and a young pick. let's them shake up the core a little bit, get a top centre and add some futures.

sens1

1.) 08 Mar 2016 15:06:22
That is a lot to give up for one year of the guy.

2.) 08 Mar 2016 15:32:05
It's a fair trade. Tankie won't like it though because it doesn't involve Draisaitl or McDavid.

3.) 08 Mar 2016 15:53:56
I just laughed myself out of my chair when sens1 called reinhart a solid prospect.

Thats all i got to say about that.

4.) 08 Mar 2016 16:28:52
I think Tankie scewed our values on Shattenkirk. I would think RNH would be close by himself.

5.) 08 Mar 2016 16:29:25
Too much.

6.) 08 Mar 2016 16:30:13
Reinhart is a solid prospect.

7.) 08 Mar 2016 17:31:31
i didn't diss the trade but reinhart is a bust if he isn't good enough to play on your team he doesn't have a chance on the blues. i'm not sure what shatty will get back depends on to many variables

Contract extension
his new salary
bidding war.

8.) 08 Mar 2016 18:18:10
He wouldn't get Nuge staight up if he doesn't have an extention.

9.) 08 Mar 2016 18:41:04
Agree with bud. But oilers will need to add if he is signed because defenseman are at a premium.

10.) 09 Mar 2016 05:31:38
Reinhart could be a bust, but u can't say that yet. I ain't defending him particularly, but I hate the fact when guys call a 20 year old a bust. He is a defence man and 99% off dman need time to cope with the nhl.

11.) 09 Mar 2016 05:35:25
Don't stress it Oils, anyone who doesn't play for STL is a bust in tankie's eyes.

12.) 09 Mar 2016 06:13:09
Doesn't look like he'll be anything special but he's solid. I just think he's lost his spot on that left side.

13.) 09 Mar 2016 14:48:18
Blues don't need dmen bsck. want a better center than rnh but. I bet blues would do shatty extended and and 1st rnd pick for rnh 1st rnd pick in the 3-5 range.

14.) 09 Mar 2016 17:59:06
Who replaces shattenkirk in your fantasy world if you get rid of him for just a center you'd need a D back also Shattenkirt was drafted in 07 14th overall, he didn't see the NHL till 2010-2011 and didn't have a full NHL season till 11/ 12. Pietrangelo who was similarly drafted fourth overall in 2008 didn't have a full season till 2010/ 2011. Please tell me again why Reinhart is a bust at 20 years old when he has spent less time in the minors than both of your "star defenceman" did.

15.) 09 Mar 2016 20:30:27
I actually can't believe that you think a Defenseman could be worth two potential franchise centres, tankie.

16.) 09 Mar 2016 22:20:10
You guys heard off Colton Parayko.

we also have Jordan Schmalt who is finish his second but first full season in ahl playing on their top line playing extremely well.

Joel Edmundson Playing outstanding with Bortuzzo. Linbohm is also performing well who lost his spot to Parayko and Edmundson. so next year you will have our d with out shatty

jaybo Petro
Edmundson Parayko
Lindbohm Bortuzzo/ schmaltz

We also have vince dunn and Jake Wallman in the pipeline. SO obviously King Connor you don't know your stuff about the STL.

17.) 09 Mar 2016 22:24:51
Sens. did you read my counter prop.

edm: RNH 1st rnd 2016 pick 3-5

STL: Shatty Signed (6.5 x 6) stl 1st 2016

at which point do you see two franchise centers. I don't even see one on here. there isn't one in anything past the first two picks rest are wingers.
Also how is your Franchise winger doing. Yakapov. or your franchise dman Nurse or your franchise center RNH.

FYI news flash They are not franchise cornerstones.

18.) 10 Mar 2016 04:54:52
Blues add, maybe Schwartz.

Would have been cool to see something like this:

Ottawa Trades: Bobby Ryan (5 yrs 7.25M/ yr), Curtis Lazar (RFA), Andreas Englund (2yrs 950K/ yr), 2018 2nd rd pick

Edmonton Trades: Jordan Eberle (2yrs 6M/ yr), Benoit Pouliot (2yrs 4M/ yr), Mark Fayne (1yr 3.625M/ yr)

I think if there was a deal like this, ottawa would have to do something similar to what the Leafs did in eating a lot of short term money to move out a longer term deal.

sens1

1.) 23 Feb 2017 19:30:46
Had this been proposed at the start of the year (aka before Bobby and Lazar pooped the bed) this deal could have been even and I would have liked it for Ottawa.

2.) 24 Feb 2017 23:14:23
Both Ryan and Lazar are undesirable unmovable assets at this time.
Sorry don't know why Edmonton would be interested in moving 2 top 6'ers out for these 2?

Never would have gone down at the start of the year because Edm was shopping for a top pair Dman . Not a major long term cap hit forward.

Sorry, Ottawa is stuck with the contract they made and going to have to buy out Ryan. no GM wants to touch that contract with a 100' pole.

AHL'r for AHL'r Fayne for Lazar is a lot more realistic than ANY team taking Ryan. specially giving up a top 6'er in return.

25 Jan 2016 20:19:34
Montreal should make a seriously hard push to sign David Backes in the off season, he would solidify the Hab's top 6.

sens1

1.) 26 Jan 2016 10:34:49
A lot of teams should.

15 Dec 2015 16:52:59
Canucks fans be like.

Vancouver: Vrbata, 7th Rounder (16), 7th Rounder (17)

Edmonton: McDavid

Pittsburgh: Crosby

=

Vancouver: McDavid, Crosby

Edmondon: 7th Rounder (16), Vrbata

Pittsburgh: 7th Rounder (17)

Vrbata isn't even a full time top 6 winger for the Canucks, so why do they keep saying he is worth a 1st/2nd and a Top 6 Forward or Top 4 D.

He's an aging UFA 3rd liner worth a 3rd and a prospect.

sens1

1.) 15 Dec 2015 19:08:24
and OTT fans be like:

cowen + 2nd + smith for stamkos

all teams have fans that are just that: fans, and only follow one team and think that team's players are the best in the world because they have a sort of personal connection to them. there's nothign wrong with that. it happens to every team in every sport and really it shouldn't even be a topic of conversation. unless, of course, they become arrogant and try to prove their point using some random stats or facts that are either skewed or illegitimate, then you can rip them :D.

2.) 16 Dec 2015 02:27:10
I haven't seen many Sens fans like that here at all.
Its Montreal fans like that if anything.

3.) 17 Dec 2015 05:29:53
you're right.

i just used OTT since it appears he's a sens fan.

21 Nov 2014 22:36:44
To Ottawa: Ales Hemsky, 2015 6th Round pick.

To Dallas: Colin Greening.

It worked for Hemsky in Ottawa- it isn't in Dallas. Greening is worth taking a chance on, he had 17 goals in his rookie season.

To Ottawa: Oliver Ekman-Larsson

To Arizona: Mark Methot, Milan Michalek, Shane Prince, 2015 2nd and Conditional 2016 1st if Methot does not resign.

To Edmonton: Craig Anderson, Matt Puempel, 2015 4th Round pick.

To Ottawa: Ben Scrivens, Nail Yakupov.

Edmonton needs a number one goaltender real bad. I think this is the one trade that might need a bit of work.

MacArthur-Turris-Ryan
Stone-Lazar-Hoffman
Yakupov-Zibanejad-Hemsky
Neil-Legwand-Smith

OEL-Karlsson
Ceci-Cowen
Gryba-Borowiecki/Phillips

Lehner
Scrivens

sens1

1.) OTT-ARZ is hilarious, might wanna add Zibanejad and take out Prince and Michalek and take out the condition on the 1st tho.

Teams have stopped making trades like this because of the Forsberg/ Erat trade. Dorion keeps saying they are willing to give Lazar time. Chances are if they could have sent him back to the AHL they would have by now. They know his value, if a team was willing to offer a similar player in a similar situation that would be the only real option.

@RocketRichard, I think you should probably delete your comment, just not come back here or just change your name back to Colt55.

If you want Karlsson you'd probably have to start with Tarasenko and add from there.

@Hawks25 maybe they should look at eye colour or shoe size as well.

@Ottawa613 so by the looks of your projected lineup (based on your analysis of common sense) it would be Lazar, Borowiecki and Neil for Landeskog? lmao.

You're mentioning line combos the sens haven't used for weeks (when they were .500 earlier this month)

They line up like this now:

Smith-Brassard-Stone
Dzingel-Turris-Ryan
Hoffman-Pageau-Pyatt
Lazar-Kelly-Neil

So everything you are saying about lines makes no sense.

The Sens already have $14 million committed to just two of their defenseman, they have no need to go out and spend another $6-7 million on Shattenkirk. Because of that they may as well not gut their organizational depth in either trade.

The Sens probably have little to no interest in signing Shattenkirk to a long term deal given that they have a prospect defenceman who just showed he may well be one of the best prospects in hockey.

They aren't giving up guys who are going to cost them $1-2 million while on their entry level deals/ pre-arb years right when they are figuring out how many zeroes Erik Karlsson is going to have in his next deal.

The way I see it as a guy that goes to 40 Sens games a year is that they would be better off acquiring a Vanek/ Parenteau/ Vrbata type forward who can play some solid minutes down the stretch.

In 3 years the Sens are going to be paying Karlsson a whole load of money, will have to come up with another starting goal tender and begin thinking about the long term future of Hoffman, Stone, Ceci, Pageau and all the other players they have drafted and so far signed to rather good deals.

Sens don't make either trade, probably have more interest in Landeskog given the asking price is a lot lower than MacKinnon's would be.
