Any trade that has Kapanen and Ristolainen is automatically a no. Maybe if the leafs took out Kapanen they would go for it.

Kappanen has more value the 30-40 point player @ redwing he could fetch a similar return to Coleman. Abit less but similar.

Leafs don’t want Risto. Overpaid, overrated, no defensive skill. Not the guy the leafs need.

Even if Dermott doesn’t equal Montour in trade value, Dermott+Kapanen is a big overpayment for him. Kapanen is a potential 50 point player, and Dermott is a young future top 4 defenceman. Just because he isn’t now doesn’t mean he won’t be in a year or two.

Imo Kerfoot+Bracco is more then enough to get Risto. Redwing even if Kerfoot has little value, so does Risto. He isn’t even worth Liljgren at this point. Kerfoot at leafs gives Buffalo some options up front and ensures they get a proper middle 6 forward.

Btw this same trade was posted on the leafs rumours site and basically every leafs fan thinks it’s an overpayment by the leafs, it’s not just me.

You guys may think it’s a fair trade, but leafs fans and Dubas would never go for it, that’s all I’m saying.

Saying risto has no defensive skill is ignorant he has one of the highest blocked shot totals in the NHL it’s transition that kills him. He’s a very solid PKer and is very physical he’s just overplayed in the right role he can be very effective similar to Jack Johnson in his prime.

Yes he was misused and on an awful team +- is an awful stat to look at and make on conclusion. A player like him should be playing sheltered minutes. PP, PK or Offensive zone starts.
