NYR - Chytil, Kravstov, 2022 1st, Conditional 2023 3rd

VAN - Miller, Schenn

Conditional pick changes to a 2nd if Miller resigns or the Rangers go to the conference final.

I like Chytil, but he shouldn't be arguably the best peice coming back. Kravstov may be good, but he's already 22 and couldn't make a Rangers team that lacks depth. Quality is very much lacking. Might as well keep Miller if this is the best offer available.

You can't make trades conditional on resigning players anymore.

That's a lot for a player who will be a 30 year old UFA in 2023 looking for a big raise with term. Still the Rangers might offer something like that but Vancouver wants a young defenseman coming back and wouldn't be adding Schenn on their end if they aren't getting one.

Calgary offers:

Jusso Valimaki @1.55M RFA 2023
Dillon Dube @2.3M RFA 2024
2022 first round pick

for

JT Miller @5.25M UFA 2023

With Dube's cap hit and Valimaki's 425k buried penalty going out Calgary can fit Miller under the cap this year without retention. This summer they'll have to figure out whether they can keep him (would require moving Monahan, Lucic or both) next year or need to flip him.

If Vancouver wants much more than that they'd have to take Monahan or Lucic in return.

I think my trade offered two young players with potential that are moveable pieces for the Rangers. Kravtsov is 22 and hasn’t shown much in the NHL but he hasn’t been given a chance yet. He’s been playing pro for a long time already. They can trade Garland for a young D or draft one, I don’t think that’ll be a dealbreaker. I wasn’t aware of the conditional pick thing, I don’t like that rule but I guess the other part still stands. I also think this New York package is better than the Calgary one.

@Ebsolutely I disagree about which package is better though I do think both are good offers.

Chytil is worth more than Dube because he's a bigger and though both players are still young Chytil is 2 years younger too. They get paid the same amount too though Dube has 1 more year of term. So worth more but not a whole lot more.

Valimaki's potential is probably worth more than either.

Kravstov hasn't done much in the minors. He's never scored at a PPG pace, in fact this year is the first time he's even scored at 0.5 PPG or better in the KHL or AHL. He's a malcontent and stuck in Russia at the worst possible time. All of that adds up to him not being worth very much.

Schenn and the 3rd cancel each other out. If anything Schenn is worth more than a 3rd.

There's a typo in the Calgary offer.

It was supposed to be a 2023 first round pick, Calgary already traded their 2022 first round pick in the Toffoli trade.

Kravtsov’s hockey DB shows he’s only played 39 games in the minors, which was his first time in North America. The two packages are honestly pretty similar I just think the Rangers one has more potential. A conditional 2nd/ 3rd is worth more than Schenn.

Chytil > Dube
Kravtsov > Valimaki
2022 1st > 2023 1st
2023 2nd > Schenn

Again the packages are close but my trade has a little more value. It’s both quality and quantity IMO. Make it a non conditional 2nd pick. If they choose to trade Miller this has the potential to really spring board a retool for VAN.

Again I disagree

Valimaki > Chytil > Dube > Kravstov

2023 first >/ = 2022 first

2022 second = Schenn
2022 third > Schenn.

heh, make that

Schenn > 2022 third.
