To COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS :
C - Elias Lindholm ( 4.85 @ 1 UFA )
48th Overall Selection in 2023 - CGY

To CALGARY FLAMES :
3rd Overall Selection in 2023 - CGY

I don’t think Columbus does it but this is the huge rumour going around flames/jackets twitter. Columbus apparently wants Lindholm and is willing to trade the 3rd overall pick. Carolina wants Lindholm but I just can’t see them giving up anything of interest to the flames. This would hurt the flames a lot, leaving a huge hole but who says yes?

Imo, Calgary says yes, but CBJ say no.

They'd be crazy to give up 3OA for 1 year of a 29 YO center.

It's gonna be hard for any team to try and trade into the top 5 this year. I dont see Columbus doing this.

I doubt Columbus would move the 3rd overall for Mathews let alone Lindholm. They aren’t ready to contend.

Drafting high is the only reward for a painful season.

Teams that go through a season like that are unlikely to trade high picks, especially a team like CLB, who is clearly rebuilding.

CLB committed ton’s of money to Gaudreau and Laine. They had much higher expectations for last year. Lindholm and Gaudreau have a solid history and chemistry together. I think they want to start competing now and would very seriously consider this trade.

Why would they take Lindholm over Mathews+. I’m sure the leafs would be willing to ad a ton to Mathews for that pick. Lindholm a pending UFA even resigned to a long term contract doesn’t even come close to that pick. A comparible player in Horvat returned a late 1st, 2nd round pick equivalent prospect and a cap dump ( not negative value but needed to be sent back to make cap work )

Lindholm for Celumans, Foudy and LAK 1st would be fair in a vacuum but Calgary will resign there top C considering the money they invested in there current core.
