Man, I'm torn on this one... I'm not a fan of Laine but the 2nd is nice. He is only under contract for 2 more years, but I'm guessing we trade him before that is over... or he asks for a trade.
We didn't give up much for him so I guess I'm good with it - just not excited for it.

Hmmm. I thought Montreal fans would be more excited about Laine. Good price though, because of the contract.

Ya. I'm biased because I'm not a fan of his play style, but I bet there are a lot who would be excited. My guess is that the goal would be similar to a Monahan scenario - does well in a hockey city with a new crew and gains value for a trade to a playoff contender, maybe some retention to increase to a first pick somehow.

He lost his scoring touch so don’t expect lots of goals but he’s probably the most underrated defensive player in the NHL. He sacrifices his body in his own end by blocking shots and taking hits. You’ll be surprised by his 2 way play and playmaking ability.

Low risk move for the Habs. He finds his scoring touch and they are laughing. If he's not working out then ship him at the deadline. Still tonnes of young dmen in the system so losing Harris isn't the end of the world for them either.

Montreal now has two 1st round , three 2nd round and three 3rd round picks at 2025 draft , so big move or moves are coming! Crosby as a free agent would be wishful thinking

Sidekick, you got to hope calgary doesn't finish bottom 10 or mtl gets fla 1st round. Cal finishes 11th worst is best case senerio. They finish 10 or worst, fla is gonna be 20s or maybe 30s.
