What if a 4 liner badly injure a player the suspension should not go to the 4 liner. But to the player that play the same position of the player injured on that night! Exemple the guy injured is a 1 liner lw you're team first liner lw Will be suspended! So we won't see a dirty hit like kreider of damn cheating Rangers! Karma is s bitch Now lunquist is injured!

I have one issue with this an innocent 1st liner gets suspended for doing nothing while the guy who did the act gets nothing. can you imagine the first time Crosby gets suspended for something say craig adams did. it would be the end of the world as we know it.

@mf karma is bad, but not in the way your thinking. Both hank and price got injured because of accidental plays by their own team. Emelin trips/knocks a guy off balance into his own goalie and ranger defender lifts the mask before the shot came.

On topic though, you can't pubish a player simply because a guy on his te injured someone else. You can fine a team or player if they have been instructed to run a player on the other team. But then it gets really iffy, ie bertuzzi Moore incident was he told to do that

I think there are better ways to stop it. like I mean if they just took the stance and kicked a guy like matt cooke out of the league like they should have done years ago it would have sent a message. maybe they are worried more about diving then injuries. two refs on the ice should be able to get together and determine if its a dive or not. and if it is a dive then its not tripping or hooking its either one or the other don't call two penalties. if players were worried that they were the only ones getting a penalty then they wouldn't dive. ooops went off topic a little there.

So you punish a player for doing absolutely nothing? So say Price wasn't already hurt and Tokarski speared a guy and got suspensed with your logic that would mean that Price would be gone for however many games. Or Weaver and Emelin got a suspension than Markov and Subban would have to serve the suspension? Rats will be rats and with the extinction of enforcers nothing will get done to stop it. Bottom line your idea is absolutely stupid.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I get what mtlworst is saying. I've thought about it before. But it doesn't work, nor make sense. It would turn 3/4th liners into goons again. Go out there and be a-holes, get a top-6er to take a run at you so their tough guys aims for one of theirs. It would be havoc.

Bad idea. More injuries abound.
