Out of all the teams in the nhl I think Tampa has the best future. they have the best prospects. they have stamkos, hedman bishop/vasilevsky and possibly they best forwards core in the entire nhl. their defence could definitely be improved but in all I definitely see them winning a few cups in the near future. they have depth, leadership, youth. everything u could ask for in a team. and they have yzerman best gm in the league outside of holland ^__^

Tampa is real good team with a solid core and some decent prospects.but considering drouin and vasilievsky are already in the nhl I would find it hard to believe the rest of the prospect crop would be even in the top 10 of the league with regards to team rankings.thats not a knock against tampa but there are a lot of teams with better prospects imo.anaheim Detroit nyi etc

Even leaving Vasi and Drouin out, I still think Tampas prospects are top 5, easily.
To what BigZ said: The only thing I feel TB lacks is toughness. We'd need a downie or chris neil type of player. Able to play the game while chiping in 20-40 points a year, but also able to fight when necessary, to protect guys like Stamkos or the triplets.
And, as you basically said, one very good stay at home tough D men.
Hedman and Sustr are both so tall and heavy, they should really learn to use their size and weight for some useful hits.

A team built around A star defenceman (Headman) and a star center (Stamkos)
Throw in Droun, Johnson, kucherov, callahan and Bishop, this team looks dangerous moving forward

If the leafs tank and get lucky with the lottery, Reilly/mcdavid would be very similar to what TB has as a core.
Throw in: Kadri, Nylander, JVR, Bernier (prospects they get from kessel, lupul, phaneuf)

The leafs could be in good shape sooner rather than later moving forward.

@Draisaitl_94 I see Erne being that guy for you guys. Decent size and can score. I can see him becoming that 3rd liner who agitates, hits, and scores for you guys.

@MG: Yeah, that's a very good thought. Only problem is, he isn't ready yet. Prolly not for next year, either, considering how carefully Yzerman tends to develop his talents.
I was looking for someone to help THIS playoffs, but for the future, you're definitely right.

Stewart could probably be had. Big, throws bombs, hits, and can pot one every now and than. High cap hit, would be gone to FA at end of the season.
