There's a difference between a player who's already played, and done well in the NHL (Carlson) then one who hasn't (Forsberg)

Bad is an understatement. If you are going to acquire someone for a young talented player at least acquire someone who can actually produce.

If all it took was Markov and a 1st I'm sure other teams would be all over that. Markov alone is a terrible deal long-term.

And I'd argue there's a difference between a guy who finished 4th in points for d-men (Markov) and an average winger (Erat) not to mention Forsberg was touted as top 5 heading into the draft. Prey on the weak, McPhee looked for a quick fix, maybe he'd do it again

Yeh but Markov is pretty much useless except for on the power play (look at his plus/minus compared to the rest of his team), Carlson is Lilkely going to be an Olympian next year a forsberg was a faller in a so so draft
