Ottawa still really wants to acquire Chris Stewart. They were in talks with the Blues but the price was to high so the Sabers traded for him with the intention of trading him to Ottawa. Since Tim Murray is from the Sens organization he will likely choose one or two prospects and maybe a roster player in exchange for Stewart.

PCS

1.) Looks like Buffalo wants Mike Hoffman and either Shane Prince or Matt Puempel in exchange for Chris Stewart.

Bob McKenzie mentioned something about Ottawa also acquiring Matt Moulson, but I seriously doubt that happens.

2.) I agree with you, I think that the cost for Moulson and Stewart together would be too much but a deal for one of the two could be possible, though I don't see Ottawa giving up another first which Tim Murray seems to be demanding for moulson and probably expecting for Stewart

3.) Probably too much to get in return but Shane Prince & Matt Puempel for Stewart would be really nice for Buffalo.

Just popping by to give you what I've heard lately.

Ottawa has received serious offers for the Following players:
LW Milan Michalek
LW Cory Conacher
LW Colin Greening
RW Chris Neil
C Zach Smith
D Chris Phillips
D Marc Methot
D Erik Gryba

I would say that any of these guys, except maybe Methot and Smith, are likely to be moved if the Sens choose to be sellers this year. They will likely know what they want to do after the Heritage game in Vancouver.

Teams have also inquired about LW Clarke MacArthur and D Jared Cowen but as it stands right now, those two are unlikely to be moved whichever way the decides to go.

I'll keep you posted if anything else floats my way.

PCS

1.) What exactly were the offers for these players?

2.) What about wiercioch?

3.) @ First comment most of them were for picks/prospects, Methot received an offer from a western team with a player who would help the top 6 forwards.

@ Second comment not much of a market for him right now because he hasn't gotten a lot of playing time.

4.) Id give you nick schultz for chris pihilips

Hey y'all, I've been a little busy over the past little while getting ready for that special time, but with the Olympic break I have a couple of minutes to catch my breath and jot some things down.

The potential Hemsky-Greening deal is on a hiatus right now because Murray isn't sure if he wants to be a buyer or a seller. He still believes that Greening could be a good piece on this team moving forward so he isn't so anxious to move him quite yet. Also, it looks like LA and Detroit are interested in Hemsky and the Sens don't want to get into a bidding war for a pending UFA, a deal is still possible but for the time being Murray is offering Greening+a 3rd at the most, and he isn't so sure about that.

Murray has also been in talks with the Avs about potentially bringing Parenteau to Ottawa, the offer he has left on the table is something along the lines of P. A Parenteau and Stefan Elliot in exchange for Patrick Wiercioch and Erik Condra. Colorado wants Condra because they feel he is a solid 3rd/4th liner and Wiercioch is farther along in his development than Elliot. Picks would likely be involved in this trade but that still needs to be hammered out.

That's all for now, anything else that comes my way I'll pass it on.

PCS

1.) What about M. Staal?

2.) Finally, something that makes sense.

3.) Where do you get this from?

Players that Ottawa is interested in.

Hemsky: Like I've said before, a deal is likely to happen before the deadline.
Kulimen: Ottawa likes what he did on a line with MacArthur a few years back and would like to add him. Will either try and trade for his rights, or sign him as a free agent if he hits the market.
Moulson: Brian and Tim have been in talks about bringing him to Ottawa, but the price is likely to high.
E. Kane: This is the player that the Sens want the most, but they would need to give away way more than they want to part with.
Orpik: Ottawa feels like he could be a solid player on the second pair with Ceci, he will probably cost a lot as a free agent.
Stralman: He would be their plan B if Orpik gets signed by another team or stays in Pittsburgh. They would hope for a reasonable contract for a responsible contract.
A. Greene: He would be a player that the Sens try to trade for in the offseason if they feel that there is no chance at getting either Orpik or Stralman.

I think the most realistic scenario is the Sens get Hemsky and possibly Stralman.

PCS

1.) I agree with the hemsky part, low risk on a cheap rental, would work well with spezza. maybe, then again, who does these days?

2.) If any team offer penguins young wingers with good potential
Pittsburgh might trade orpik

3.) I wonder if the sens would do a michalek for orpik swap? that is if hemsky is coming

Got a little update on a possible Ottawa-Edmonton deal.

It looks like Ottawa is pushing hard to make it Greening+a 3rd to get Hemsky, Edmonton wants Gryba and the 3rd but Ottawa likes how he is doing and wants to keep him through next season at least.

Chris Phillips has informed Brian Murray that he is 50/50 on retiring at the end of this season and he feels that Gryba can be a good stopgap until one of the prospects is ready to step up to take a spot.

So if a deal gets done a third will be going to Edmonton, along with either Gryba or Greening depending on who gives in first.

PCS

1.) Greening and 3rd would be fair but Gryba and a 3rd would be a bit unfair

You trade Diaz, who is a Right D, for Macdonald, who is a Left D, and then play Macdonald on the right side.

There's a difference between a player who's already played, and done well in the NHL (Carlson) then one who hasn't (Forsberg)

That's still a pretty bad trade if you look at it from Colorado's perspective. They trade away a good defenseman and one who could turn into an allstar for a guy who will probably walk at the end of the year, and a guy on a terrible contract.

I've seen a lot of both of them as a sens fan, and honestly, n I would much rather have DD on my team.

I remember when Burke made that deal, the majority of Leafs fans were saying that it was one of the best moves of the season, and now look at it.

I bet the Islanders are kicking themselves for trading Spezza and Chara for Yashin.
I bet Montreal is kicking themselves for trading McDonagh for Gomez
I bet Toronto is kicking themselves for trading Rask for Raycroft
I bet Philly is kicking themselves for signing Bryz to a terrible contract
I bet Columbus is kicking themselves for taking Filatov in the 2008 draft.

You can sit here looking at mistakes all day but you just need to remember that hindsite is 20-20

Ovies hero I hope you're being sarcastic, its going to be the leafs first time in the playoffs in how many years and you would rather then get beaten in the first round and get a draft pick that's maybe four higher? I hate the leafs but if I were you I would love for them to get out of the first round just so they can get experience. Its not their year but they can still learn how to play in the playoffs and if they get to the second round then its that much more experience. You wonder why Leaf fans get a bad rep and its because of stuff like this.
