Here are some pipe dream trades to turn the leafs into cup contenders instead of playoff contenders.

To Edmonton: gunnerson and holzer
To Toronto: perron

This gives the oilers a decent top 4 dman and a 3rd pairing guy who's ready for the nhl and also reunites holzer with Eakins.
This gives the leafs a decent 2nd line winger.

To Florida: lupul and franson
To Toronto: kulikov and 2014 2nd

Florida gets a good pp Dman who can be a decent top 4 guy when paired with a d first dman and also a good 2nd line winger who can jump onto the 1st line if needed. And this helps them get better immediately.
Toronto gets a dman who has the potential to be a decent top 4 guy and an early 2nd rounder.

To flyers: phaneuf and 2014 3rd
To leafs: b. schenn, l.schenn and 2014 1st
Flyers get that top pairing dman they need and a pick.
Leafs get a good young 2nd line centerman, a 3rd pairing dman who is basically a cap dump so philly can take on phaneufs salary easier and phillys 1st(would be their 2nd but by taking l. Schenn and his salary it makes it a 1st)

To Vancouver: Kadri, Finn and Florida 2nd
To Toronto: bieksa and 2014 1st

Vancouver gets a good young 2nd line centerman to replace Kessler when he is traded, a good dman prospect who has a lot of potential and an early 2nd rounder.
Toronto gets an older dman that is a tough d first guy which is what they need most an who will take on a leadership role in the dressing room as well and they also get a decent 1st round pick.

To boston: leafs 2014 1st, philly 2014 1st and Vancouver 2014 1st
To Toronto: Marchand and boychuk

Boston gets 2 top 10 picks along with another 1st rounder which frees up cap space to sign iggy and all their young guys.
Leafs get a tough top 4 dman and a good 2nd liner that can play both ends of the ice.

Sign komorov 2 years/2.5 mill
Sign holland 2 years/1.25 mill
Sign Mcclement 2years/2 mill
Sign bodie 2 years/1mill
Sign brodeur 2 years/2mill

Trade Gleason for a 5th(probly have to add a prospect with him to find any takers)

JVR Bozak Kessel
Perron schenn Marchand
D'amigo holland Clarkson
Komorov Mcclement bodie

Gardiner bieksa
Kulikov boychuk
Reilly schenn
Granberg

Bernier
Brodeur

Cap works out to between 68 and 69 million.

Three firsts for marchand and boychuck?!?!?!?!

2.) 22 Jun 2014
^ cap works out to that signing b.schenn, gardiner and kulikov to 4 mill/year deals

3.) 22 Jun 2014
That's at least a finish your drink!

First 2 trades are okay, #3 and #4 favor the leafs, #5 favors Boston. 3 picks with 2 being in the top 10 is clearly too much

Yup, those are definitely pipe dreams.

6.) 22 Jun 2014
Boychuk and Marchand are both good but won't fetch anywhere near 3 1sts

The first 2 trades I can see but a change to the others then:

To flyers: phaneuf and Finn
To leafs: both schenns and 2014 1st

To van: Kadri and percy
To leafs: bieksa

To boston: leafs 1st and phillys 1st
To leafs: Marchand and boychuk

8.) 23 Jun 2014
Kadri is a fourth liner at best. Absolutely NO Value unless your a Leaf fan!

^Although I don't think Kadri is as good as Leafs fans seem to think, he's not a 4th liner.
On teams that are weak down the middle he can be a good #2 center.
On teams with C depth like TB (Stamkos, Filppula, Johnson, etc) or Boston (Krejci, Bergeron, Soderberg, Kelly) or Philly (Giroux, Schenn, VL4, etc) he is a solid #3 center.
But he's relatively young, so he will most likely evolve in a solid line 2 player
