Draft predictions, why not have some fun.

1) Vancouver goes wild
- 6th overall, Garrison and Shinkaruk/Horvat/Gaunce to FLA for 1st overall (draft Ekblad)
- Kesler, Edler, 2015 1st, 2014 3rd (add Markstrom maybe, assuming they sign Hiller in offseason) to PIT for Malkin and Neal (toss in Orpik rights, why not)

That would be the most unreal trade. I give it a 3% chance of happening

2) Oilers trade their 3rd overall pick when they find out Ekblad is drafted in top two, which he willl.

3rd overall to ANA for the 10th overall, Lindholm or vatanen (depening on if lindholm is too much with the 10th)

ANA drafts a LW (prob Drasaitl)
EDM drafts a D (Sanheim, or Fleury if he's available)

3) sens trade spezza, either to Blues or Rangers, will not post the trades

these are both unrealistic, I just want something exciting like this to happen in Philly tomorrow night

If Benning does that for Vancouver I will be ecstatic!

But the Pittsburg gm (not sure his name) said Malkin is one of their untouchables

2.) 27 Jun 2014
If Vancouver gets the 1st, they're more likely to pick Reinhart over Ekblad as Reinhart is the hometown boy. Otherwise, I like it!

the oiler ana trade could happen with vatanen not lindholm

@thejazz97

that would be ok too but then sedin brothers would need to leave vancouver within next three years, which is belivable

5.) 27 Jun 2014
@RAGE

he probably is one of their "untouchables", but they could never play with almost three #1 centers (crosby, malkin, kesler). Crosby and malkin are both prob top 5 centers in nhl, one would have to leave. They need defensive help so Kesler is a defensive center and edler is solid that would be a good trade for them

Oilers need a top center prospect much more than they need another defensive prospect. If Ekblad is available, they'll take him, but otherwise they will be selecting a center. And very likely it will be one of the top 3 available.

That would be pretty sick if the Canucks made those trades.

8.) 27 Jun 2014
The vancouver-pitt trade is horrible. That would possibly net malkin, but definitely not malkin and neal. My guess is that malkin and crosby stay in pittsburgh for a long time. They are locked up for a long time and the cap is expected to rise significantly in the next 5 years. Guys like martin, letang and scuderi are overpaid and they could revamp their d core and add wingers by trading 2 of them.

9.) 27 Jun 2014
That Vancouver deal looks real, it is what I have been reading in the trade rumors. If Reinhart is drafted 1st, look for BUF to make a trade with EDM involving Petry or Gagner and 3rd for the 2nd. Neither Petry nor Gagner appear to fit into the Oiler future so IMO they would be very willing to give them up to get Ekblad. As always, I appreciate the feedback.

@bubbagumpschremp

yeah I didn't think it was quite enough to get neal and malkin, I just think penguins would be a better team with kesler and edler and whatver else they get, they would need to give up another forward too to make it closer value

@chirp

is RNH not a #1 center? they don't need forwards, they need defencemen! and honestly they need goalies too they aren't going anywhere with scrivens and fasth

@SBR 2017

yeah that could be a possibility, but idk if its too much to move up one spot. I still think buffalo will be drafting a forward, so like last year, top d-man prospet could fall to 3 or 4. (like jones last year)
