To San Jose - Dustin Byfuglien

To Jets - Brent Burns (if he waives his NTC)

Straight up, similar roles, salary and term, BB has 3 years to DB's 2 years. Just a shake up for two teams that need it.

To Oilers - Evander Kane

To Jets - Yakupov, Klefbom and a 2nd in 2015

EK doesn't want to be there, Yak needs a fresh start

To Toronto - Hutchinson + Jets 2nd in 2015

To Jets - Reimer

1.) 15 Aug 2014
Reimer isn't worth that much. Maybe a 3rd at max

2.) 16 Aug 2014
Yakupov isn't going anywhere, not now. If you're going to post trades, please do pay attention to the things that have been happening. MacT stated that for this year Yakupov is staying at the 3rd/2nd line. And Dallas Eakins agrees. Yakupov might be traded next year. But no way this year.

3.) 16 Aug 2014
And Reimer is a good goaltender, but not as good for Hutchingson. 2nd round pick alone will do the job. Toronto doesn't need Reimer.

4.) 16 Aug 2014
Reimer will land a 2nd

5.) 16 Aug 2014
I'm aware of what MacT said about Yakupov, thanks, but I'm pretty sure though that Chevy wasn't dangling EK in front of him as a second line option over Benoit P when he said it. You make an obvious point, a possible trade featuring high profile players like EK and Yak as the principles will not happen in mid August. Trades like this would be, at the earliest, 20-25 games in depending on how the respective teams involved come out of the gate. And I wouldn't put too much stock into what GMs say to the media anyway, they always have to show belief in their asset in order to keep their bargaining position as strong as possible. I'm sure it is possible though that if the Oilers stumble (I hope not, I like the Oil too) but Yak is playing solid, and the Jets are looking mediocre, that a bold move is made earlier rather than wait for the trade deadline.

6.) 16 Aug 2014
Reimer is a 3rd at best.

7.) 16 Aug 2014
I tried over and over just now to make a case for NOT making the Kane trade, and I can't, but not for the reason you're thinking. It just makes zero sense. I mean, even take out the pick: Yakupov and Klefbom for Kane. Who agrees to that trade? Neither team, for their own reasons. It's an enigma, but it's also not good.

And that Reimer trade is laughable. He's not worth a 2nd and a solid G prospect. Not even close.

8.) 16 Aug 2014
Great response, you've summed up the banter I had with friends about this as a trade option and even why I came back to this site. Some guys said I was nuts and others thought it would just need a tweak or two, all for different reasons. I just stuck to my guns and widened the audience. In hindsight I have to admit that Nonis might have taken me on the Reimer trade.

9.) 16 Aug 2014
Reimer is better than reto Berra who recently got traded for a second round pick

10.) 16 Aug 2014

Just because Berra may was overpaid for, doesn't mean teams will overpay for Reimer automatically.
Hutchinson is a solid prospect worth at least a 3rd rd pick. So the trade is basically 2nd and good 3rd for Reimer.
One can argue whether Reimer is worth a 2nd or a 3rd or 2 4ths or whatever, but he clearly isn't worth 2nd + 3rd.

11.) 17 Aug 2014
Reimer is worth a second IMO but the only team that needs a goalie right now is Winnipeg.deal happens at trade deadline

12.) 17 Aug 2014
Draisaitl_94,

so by your logic bishop is still worth conacher? because that's what he was traded for. that's how were determining player value? come on dude, reimer is solid, not one of the best, but could start on a bunch of teams, worth a prospect and pick to a team in need of goaltending, after all, he has played his whole career in front of a lack luster toronto d core and a bunch of forwards who don't back check right? could be a superstar on a good team

13.) 18 Aug 2014
SJ has stated they want to get younger in goal. They need a goalie.

Reimer will probably get a 3rd.

We will see at the trade deadline.
He will need to play better than he did down the stretch to garner attention though.

I stopped taking you seriously when you said "he could be a superstar on a good team"
Nothing against James Reimer. but no, he cant.
And what you're saying about "my logic" is totally not what I said.
I never compared an old trade or its value with this trade.
What you're saying is just totally outta context.

15.) 18 Aug 2014
No way will Reimer be a "super star".

He is good, and potentially better than Bernier, but not a super star.

16.) 18 Aug 2014
So at least you took me seriously until the last sentence?

super star comment was sarcasm.

but he would be a lot better than he is percieved to be by the vast majority of the leaf haters on this site if he was on a really good team. or at least any team other than the leafs.

17.) 18 Aug 2014
18 Aug 2014 19:23:50
Total agreement from me. I never said he sucked and I do not bash him or the leafs in general.
Reimer is a good goalie, no question, I just don't think he's a starter, at least not on a good team. Every goalie would be better if he played in front of the Bruins/Blues/whoever instead of the Leafs, Oilers or also my Lightning (until 12/13).

18.) 19 Aug 2014
@draisaitl and Ovies hero IMO reimer is a starting nhl goalie.he is not elite but he's too good to play 15-20 games as a backup.i want the leafs to trade him somewhere he gets a chance to play.reimer is the only reason we went 7 games with Boston or even made the playoffs IMO and he kinda got a raw deal for it.(trade for someone better and hand him the job,no real competition)but either way reimer has one of the hottest hockey wives so he'll be fine

19.) 19 Aug 2014
19 Aug 2014 06:53:05
I feel like he's somewhere in between.
Too good for 15-20 games is definitely true, but I can't see him starting 60 or 65 games somewhere.
If both could handle their roles, a 47/35 split kinda thing between Bernier and Reimer would be pretty good for Toronto IMO

and wtf, she's really hot, lol

20.) 20 Aug 2014
We'll said draisaitl.he needs a chance to play IMO he's earned it.140 gp 914sv% 7playoff games 923 sv% considering he's put those numbers up while playing for the leafs that's really good
