I think it would work if Boston traded 2-3 of their depth defenseman to a team that has a lot of offence but not so much defense. Here are some trades that could work.
•To Florida: Warsofsky, Macquaid
To Boston: Huberdeau
Maquaid will add toughness (like Shawn Thornton) to the Panthers lineup. Warsofsky has a lot of potential and can play bottom 2 defense.
•To Edmonton: Boychuk, 2nd Round Draft Pick
To Boston: Perron
Boychuk will be reunited with Former line mate Andrew Ference and team mate Benoit Pouliot. Ference and Boychuk were a shut down pair for Boston and would probably do the same for Edmonton.
• To Buffalo: Macquaid
To Boston: Stewert
Stewert can play on the third line for Boston and Macquaid will add toughness to Buffalo.
• To Toronto: Bartkowski, Macquaid
To Boston: JVR

Most people here probably know, that I'm the last person in defense of the Leafs, but that trade is absolutely terrible for them.
Bartkowski and McQuaid for JVR? Really?! Start with Hamilton and Spooner/Khokchalev if you want JVR.
Thats really beyond aqful for TOR.

I agree with Drgonzo, offering one undersized, fringe Dman and one stay at home, good with his fists #5 Dman for a #3 overall pick projected to be a 1st line player will result in Tallon saying rude things and hanging up his phone. Your middle trades could be discussed but, as you pointed out, not the JVR one.

Then you could steal Matt Greene and Alec Martinez for Bergeron, then Oduya and a 2nd for Marchand, then Wiercioch and Gryba for Milan Lucic. I think that's fair as well.

The middle trades put Boston further over the salary cap. Go to capgeek for player salaries people it's easy an accurate

Leafs counter with Orr and a conditional 7th for Lucic. Since when has McQuaid become such a sought after dman. This post is terrible.

Obviously a boston fan. Everyone realize that Boston needs to free cap space. Mcquaid is the odd man out. JvR really? For a Dman that has not skated since January!
