Leafs should trade for Eberle. I would give up franson, reimer and a draft pick. 2nd in 2015

Then I would turn round and trade Kari, gardiner and conner brown to Carolina to get staal.

Top two lines now would be

Jvr staal kessel

Lupal bozak eberle

Thoughts?

I doubt either team does that trade.

The value is not good in the Eberle trade. Franson is a UFA at years end, Reimer MIGHT be better than Fasth and/or Scrivens, but only slightly. And a 2nd round dp isn't blowing anyone's skirt up.

As for Carolina, I highly doubt Carolina values Connor BRown higher than a a couple of high draft picks, which is likely closer to the asking price.

2.) 20 Oct 2014
Also remember that toronto is taking in salary here with eberle.

And skinner was very popular to Carolina before when everyone said he was too small. so u never know. also staal makes a ton that is a key factor to keep in mind

3.) 20 Oct 2014
I don't see the Leafs going for Eric Staal. They would have to give up so much, that it hurts them more then Staal can help them.

that won't get eberle, franson is absolutely horrible, reimer would be EDM's #1 bu he's not great, and the leafs don't have a 2nd in 2015. it went in either the bolland or bernier deal, I forget which one.

and that staal trade I would hate to se happen, TOR's not in the position to be giving up on young guys imo, the prospect pool isn't phenomenal and its not like they're a cup contender.

5.) 20 Oct 2014
@Shankar Agreed. Toronto hasn't much to offer atm without givin up their better players.

6.) 20 Oct 2014
What about Reimer, Gardiner and Gauthier/or another prospect for Eberle?

7.) 21 Oct 2014
I know a girl named Kari.

and I think you meant Kadri.

Franson, lupul, 2nd for yak and petry

9.) 21 Oct 2014
Personally I see stall as a good fit in Toronto. He has size and skill that can't be questioned, he is known to have a great work ethic and plays all 3 zones. He play PK and PP. But where I really see the value in Stall is his experiance. He has made the cup run before and knows the feeling. He's a leader in the dressing room that I think Toronto could use. I think that if Toronto can get stall at a reasonable price then they have no choice even if they have to overpay by a bit. As Don Cherry says "he is a good Canadian kid"

10.) 21 Oct 2014
Really the young guys?? Do you think conner brown will turn into something that he is kit already?? Prospects are not proven so they might be nothing in the end better to take that chance and get a player of staal Class them wait and see if they turn into something

11.) 21 Oct 2014
@Shankar

franson is far from horrible, he's certaintly better than most of the dmen on edmonton

he had over 200 hits and 110 blocked shots last year. sure the -20 was bad, but he's on the leafs (statistically one of the worst defensive teams in the league). still not enough to get eberle, but he's far from horrible

@dilp, idk if you watch the leafs or not, but if you do you should see that he is horrible. his lack of decision making ability is pretty much impossible to measure empirically, something you have to see and notice.

as an example, shooting from the point into shin pads, when anyone can see there is no shot there and to put it back in the corner, which he seems to do at least every other shift. or a more recent example from the saturday night game in detroit on the zetterberg goal, him not reading the play and leaving zetter wide open and essentially just screening bernier gets him a -, but it does for the other 3 leafs on the ice as well, even though the goal could have been easily stopped if he had've read the play and situation correctly. I can go on, but I assume you get what i'm saying.

13.) 21 Oct 2014
Franson is better than ANY dman in Edm, how about?

Gardiner, Reimer, Frattin
for
Eberle

14.) 21 Oct 2014
@shankar

Youve pointed out 2 plays and yes I do watch the leafs, i'm from toronto.

Not saying he's an all star but he's far from a horrible dman and would certaintly be an upgrade over any dman on edmonton

Hes still relatively young and has been finally given a chance to play regular minutes. Wilson hated him and carlyle wasnt a fan until he realized that a 6'5" dman with a booming shot, who hits and blocka everything is worth giving a chance.

So yes I get what you're saying but he'd easily be on your top line

15.) 21 Oct 2014
^^^ Horrible is relative. A few years ago he played a lot better all around game, the last two years it's been tough.

I agree that he is far from "horrible" but he isn't good either.

well I don't follow EDM very closely, i'm a lef fan too haha.

also, I don't know where this he's never gotten a chance is coming from. he's played 3 years of top 4 minutes now. one fo thise was good, last year he was horible and has started this year out the same.

17.) 22 Oct 2014
Funny how people are dumping on franson more then dion. What a joke correct or in correct franson out scored dion?

18.) 22 Oct 2014
^ being a d-man is not just about putting up points.

19.) 22 Oct 2014
Agreed hut seems to work for Karl son in Ottawa correct me if I am wrong? Scores like crazy could play good defence with a gun to his head. He just ain't that defensive player but they let him go and so what he does. So there goes your defensive theory eh?

LOL karlsson puts up almost a point per game, no one focusses on his defense lapses because he scores more than most forwards. franson, on the other hand, will get you 30-35 points, but play horrible defense. in short, karlsson's supreme offensive talent more than makes up for his defensive lapses, while franson's doesn't even come close.

your bashing of phaneuf has led to a comparisson of franson to karlsson, I hope you realize how how dumb that is.

Lupus is untradeable at 5.25 million cap hit. He's a below average skater, injury prone and overpaid. 3.5 million per is more appropriate but his skating still hurts you.
