Make both sense for TOR. Make no sense for PHI and WPG.
Brayden Schenn is worth a lot more than Gardiner.
Ashton and Ellerby are both worth next to nothing, but Ellerby can play in the NHL, Ashton can't so. no.

No way is Schenn worth more than Gardiner. Typical down play of the Leaf talent by Draisaitl_94. It looks to me like a fairly even trade. Two young talents trying to find themselves.
I would make this trade, the second one who cares.

What do you guys think b schenn is actually worth??

4.) 02 Nov 2014
I don't understand how that trade helps the Flyers. They need defense, and Gardiner is a very offensive based defenseman.

Do you guys really think Gardiner is worth as much as Schenn? Good lord. he isnt.

@Shankar: Sure not. But he's worth more than Gardiner, simple as that.

so what is he worth? rielly? admit it, you devalue leaf players because you don't like the team, simple as that.

^ @Drais and Shank

since 90% of the "evaluation" that goes on this site is heavily influenced by our own biases, you likely both are guilty of overvaluing/undervaluing players (as am I).

As far as the trade is concerned, Philly will get Couburn and MacDonald back in a month or so, I doubt they would move Schenn for such a short term problem, even if it is for Gardiner. And even though Gardiner is effectively the 6th/7th d-man from a rostering stand point in Toronto(bc from an in game stand point he is 2nd in minutes and is one of the top players in terms of possession numbers), Toronto isn't flush enough with d-men/lack enough forward depth to deal Gardiner at this point without a big impact.

I think B.Schenn is "worth" more to Philly, in a trade to Toronto for Gardiner, at the moment. But that could very easily change if the variables changed from either team (i.e. more substantial injuries to Philly's d-core or decreased production from Schenn). In other words, it's hardly a definitive answer one way or the other. IMO this is the sort of trade that would have had to happen back in summer and only if both teams were at a point of saying it's time to move on and Clearly that wasn't the case (from Toronto's stand point anyway).

No, Rielly is worth more and you know that.
I don't undervalue Leafs or other players. At least not on purpose, it's just my opinion.
THEGR81 you're right.
