MTL and BOS are both in need of top-6 wingers. BUF has Stewart and Stafford.

MTL: Stewart

BUF: Reway, 2nd, 5th

BOS: Stafford

BUF: Lindblad, 2nd

1.) 24 Nov 2014
Boston doesn't have the cap space to make this trade.

2.) 24 Nov 2014
If anything, I would see stafford to MTL & Stewart to BOS, Stewart seems like he'd mesh better with Boston's style of play

3.) 24 Nov 2014
Neither Reway nor Lindblad fit the bill of an NHL ready player that Tim Murray has indicated would be needed to pry either Stafford or Stewart away from Buffalo. Reway is not in MTL top 20 prospect list and Lindblad at 24 yo has only played 2 NHL games and will probably not progress much beyond his current level. So the trade is really a 2nd and 5th for Stewart and a 2nd for Stafford. Easy pass for Tim Murray. BTW if Murray really wanted Lindblad for next season he could offer him $1,110,249 (nearly a $300,000 raise) and not have to provide any compensation to Boston or a $1,682,194 offer would only cost a 3rd.

4.) 24 Nov 2014
I fail to understand why people consider stafford and stewart top 6 wingers. I'd rather have pacioretty, gally, galchenyuk, and parenteau in my top 6 over Stewart any day. And then I don't see the value in trading picks and a prospect for him.

5.) 24 Nov 2014
Change Reway to Del la Rose

Tim Murray may NHl ready young guys, but he's dealing with so-so UFAs, he will be lucky to get a 2nd a B prospect (what Habs GM gave for Vanek last year)
Vanel had 25 pts in 35 games with MTL (if you take out last 2 playoff rounds, basically a point per game player)
he's a bust with Minn. now, but he had way more value/talent that CS or DS
