I know right. It's probably because he's not a maple leaf. I'm sorry that leaf players over value their player sometimes but non leaf fans under value them more. Carolina is shopping the face of their team. Looking for a new look. Skinner is good but not worth more then what JVR can get in the market. Just saying

Um, I never said anything about JVR.
I'd say they're worth about the same. JVR is a super good contract for what he's doing.
But the above trade is just not enough to get Skinner. Simple as that.

I know you never mentioned jvr. I was just comparing value. Value that most anti leafers will say JVR is worth a 2nd pick. Due to skinners concussions and higher pay I believe most teams will not give much more then what I posted. Plus this allows them to have more confidence in moving E Stall. They get a second line center and a struggling defencman that have potential to florish under a different coach.

Same as Lupul. He is only worth a 3rd in this cap world we are in due to his constant injuries that limit teams interest. Teams making good money can pay an injured player as long as he's on ltir they are fine because his contract doesn't effect the cap. But teams like Carolina, Arizona can't hold onto those players

^ I agree in part Drais. I don't think Carolina would trade him for Kadri, Gardiner and Leivo, but if I were Toronto I wouldn't give up any more than that.

He's a talented player but his injury history is concerning and I could easily see him and Kadri having similar career numbers for that reason. So you're not necessarily getting a massive upgrade.

@Killa: Whoever says JVR is worth a 2nd is just dumb. JVR is one of the premier PWFs in the league, able to score 30, maybe 40 one day.
But Skinner is very talented, too. He's a bit younger, I think, an excellent skater, has a nose for the net and goalscoring touch. Carolina is just in a bad situation.
JVR has Kessel to play with. I know Skinner has Staal, but I don't think they played on the same line alot.
Whatsoever, JVR isn't worth a 2nd, he's worth more than a 1st (not talking top 5-10 next year, but generally).
@THEGR81: perfect assessment, I agree. No way CAR trades him for that, I think he's one of the few pieces they wanna keep and rebuild around. At least that's what I'd do if I was CAR. But it may also be true, that TOR would not be willing to give more. But then you just don't get him.
