To New Jersey: Matt Carle, Valterri Filppula, 2015 3rd
To Lighting: Peter Harrold, Tuomo Ruutu

Explanation: In my opinion both teams get what they wanted. Tampa Bay now has 5m more cap space.
NJ gets a okay defenseman, and a ''good 2 way center'' -Draisaitl_94. Tampa has enough of good prospects so they don't really need that 2015 3rd.
Ruutu has been in the nhl since the 2002 season. Which is plenty of experience to help the young guys on Tampa's Roster.

You say Tampa gets what they want but they don't really get anything but the bit of cap space. Ruutu has nowhere to play in the lineup even with Filpulla gone Harold isn't much. I still think they could get something of actually value for Filpulla and Carle

So Tampa gives up the two superior not to mention you gets players and a pick for 5 mil in cap space? Doesn't make sense Tampa, just makes them worse

Unbelievably lopsided for New Jersey.

Filppula could get more than that whole package.

Not even close.
TB does create cap space, yes.
But losing a somewhat solid defenseman and - as you said - a good two-way #2 C for Ruutu, who rather has negative value (2 more years at 3.8 and isn't producing at all, prolly would be a scratch on our team) and Harrold, who's also worth just a tad over nothing? Plus we give up an additional 3rd?
Yeah, sure.
