Why give up Crawford for Pavelec?
I'd much rather have CC

3.) 06 Feb 2015
And Chicago wants to trade two big parts of their Stanley cup winning core because??

Crawford>>>>>Pavalec
Sharp>Kane
Bickel=Clitsome

Cap reasons.

Toews' & Kane's contracts of 10+ million kick in next year and will need some relief to help solidify some areas that are going to need some improvement.

They're going to have a depleted back end behind Keith, Seabrook and Hjal. Rozsival and Oduya don't think are going to get resigned so chicago will have to replace them.

They're probably going to lose Richards and have to find a solution for their second line C again. Whether or not Teravainen is the solution, nobody really knows yet.

Saad and Kruger have to be resigned.

Also Chicago has had a lot of success without a premier goaltender.
I also think Pavelec playing behind the Chicago Blackhawks roster will help his game tremendously.

@titties
if they are worried about the cap why trade a goalie who has earned his contract in crawford by being lights out in playoffs for a guy in Pavelec who the jets wanted to buy out the last two years. If it weren't for his relative success this year he would have the worst contract for a goalie in the nhl.
