Edmonton is waiting till they build the new arena before they start making some noise. They have enough assets to pull things like this off at any time to make us a playoff team. Katz is smart man. And it's hard to believe and listen to what I'm saying but I guarantee you the year the arena is built, Edmonton will be making the playoffs. Mac T is doing good and not trading big pieces away to save his job, but guaranteed he will have to pull at least 2 huge block buster trades that will benefit the oilers large. To be honest I would only hope for the Chicago and Detroit trade if anything. I hate phaneuf but if he were to play with a guy like seabrook and have the option to make plays with edmontons top six then guarantee he will be a Norris candidate. Don't judge a player over a year of bad play with a horrible organization that depends on kessel and jvr to put the puck in the net. They didn't have high flying forwards like Edmonton does. Anyways tell me what you guys think of a guy like phaneuf on the oilers playing 20-23 minutes a night against top 2 competition.

Petry and a 2nd for helm

2.) 19 Feb 2015
Confused by the first trade. I don't think that Detroit is allowed to trade away players that don't play for them.

3.) 19 Feb 2015
KCM you seriously over-value Red Wings. Petry is a solid top-four shutdown defender

Helm is a above average third line center. Not worth a top-four and high 2nd round pick, which is really a late first this year

4.) 19 Feb 2015
No chance Blackhawks trade Sharp and Seabrook for that

Trade #1: Chicago is in CAP hell, which means they won’t get full value for their assets. I don’t see this kind of return - and if someone is willing it's more likely Florida.

Trade #2: I’m not a Phaneuf hater – but he just will not work in Edmonton. Useful player, but the combination of contract and off ice behaviour – no thanks. Edmonton does not need another problem (Souray, Pronger, etc.) It may be short sighted but they will avoid it.

Trade #3: no real opinion, but if Ellis is the answer – I’m sure what the question is - so why bother?

Trade #4: Helm, ok….but I think it’s going to be a 2nd. And KCM is out to lunch.

Signing Niemi makes sense – but there are other options over the summer.

Goaltending remains the big problem - once fixed everything else will look better.

Metrle hahaha I meant to put Chicago. Oops. And Chicago is in cap that's why they dump lots to Edmonton. By 2016 edmonton will have like 15-20 mil in cap space. Nikitin really messed up a lot of things for the oilers. And I think people really underestimate eberles trade value. And petry is a solid top 4 Dman that will sign with Detroit. Helm is a band aid but when healthy he is a beast. Have a line of Gordon Hendricks and helm for a shut down roll will be nice. And I really could see a couple of these making sense for both teams. I mean look at Toronto fans when they make trades lol. Example - hall for bozak and a 2nd lol. It's good to be realistic
